Actually Joomla 3.5 is not yet released into stable version
Joomlart developers are already working on templates updates for the new release and in the next weeks there will be updated templates block releases.Ja Wall will be in one of these blocks.
Anyway would be better to not update your ja wall template to Joomla 3.5 version first there will be a new compatible template release available.

There are no known issues updating Ja Wall for Joomla 3.4 to Joomla 3.5.1 – so you can update it –
I tested it again installing new quickstart version on my local xampp configured in this way
MySql – 5.5.5-10.1.13-MariaDB
PHP – 5.6.21
If you update your website take always a backup first
yes i did, but could you please check this link out just click on article photo for open a preview is it Joomla or template bug?

I cannot replicate your issue on my local installation, if i enable popup preview from backend then it works fine , if i indeed disable it then articles are opened without preview as it should be , so if you added a popup plugin to have your article images opened in a popup or a custom js managing it, you should verify such plugin and it’s compatibility.
i taked about behaviour of opening the main picture of article (upper) – not pictures in picture gallery, just check it out again, please

Maybe i was explaining in the wrong way – if i click on article image then it opens correctly as popup and there are no duplicated popup on my local installation.
