Travelling Doctors is the online community for Overseas Doctors living and working in Australia. Every year several thousands of doctors come from abroad to work in Australia and most have the same questions, concerns and requirements! As such, Travelling Doctors has become the central focal point for this community… and guess what – IT’S JOOMLA!!! 😎 Our community is currently at a rate of 40% per month!
Website URL: http://www.travellingdoctors.com – please use this link (so as not to dilute the stats) http://www.travellingdoctors.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=300&Itemid=523
Template: JA_Xenia
Note: Originally I paid a company to develop a website for me in Joomla – Big mistake. Buying a professional template from JA was the BEST move i could have made.Additional Extensions (Components, Modules, Plug ins):
Community Builder
with:
-CB Autowelcome (brilliant – very very useful)
-UddeIMSimpleboard Forum
with:
– jbdiscussbotDocman, Image Rotator, EWeather, Extended Ratings, Joomap, GMaps, Zoom Media Gallery
Custom Development:
The majority of hacks are regarding the language files. CB has had certain icons removed but on the whole – it runs “out of the box”The website is huge – over 200 pages. It has been 1 year in the planning and nearly 4 months in development. I would love to know what you think of appearance, navigation and general ease of use. There is an issue with speed which we are working on and I would be grateful for any suggestions.
I am not a website developer but “grown” into a Joomla’ite. Without Joomla, I could never have afforded to have such a comprehensive website.

July 26, 2007 at 5:51 pm #225233The site looks good, and has lots of content. Good work!
Here is a cache component that works really good.
Good luck with the site. 🙂July 27, 2007 at 7:06 am #225270@MuffinDCC 22208 wrote:
Wow, that is a highly extensive site. Great to see you using the typography of the template to a great effect :)

It helps when the template makes it so easy. Many thanks for your comments. 😀

IainFirst of all, a very nice and clean website. Excellent work.
Second, about a caching component, I don’t know about the component pointed out by Bill, but I use this one (http://fun.kubera.org/content/view/20/45/lang,iso-8859-1/) on my Xenia-site and I must say it works pretty good.
Kind Regards,

IainWithout the cache component my site takes upwards of 2 miniuts to fully load. With the cache component, it takes about 3/4 second.
BIG improvement, and the one I linked to is free too. 🙂instantinlaw Friendinstantinlaw

Arghhhhhh!!!! The white line – it’s the bane of my life. It’s in firefox as well. I’m working on it but it’s proving elusive >:(
Thanks for your other comments though 😀
