February 12, 2007 at 1:24 am #214451Hi vaha2000,
Could you be more specific? And it’s better if you provide your live site URL.
JA Xenia is just a template for Joomla CMS system, not a whole dynamic website. To make your site looks good you also need to build up your content instead of using the default content.

February 12, 2007 at 12:08 pm #214479Ha Le Viet,
Is it perhaps possible for you to add something in the forum guidelines/rules that people please post as much information as possible, such as live url, screenshot, Joomla version, which template they are using and so on? I am getting a bit tired of all the cries for help without any information about hardly anything. I am just guessing it would be easier if the forum rules were more clear about this or something.
It would at least make it a lot easier for me to be able to assist those in need ( when and if I can help out that is )
Thanks for considering it.

February 12, 2007 at 3:02 pm #214487Perhaps his point was more to do with default module positioning as was my gripe, you guys need to remember not everyone can do a absolute complete clean install, some hosts do not have provision for it, and please stop passing off everything as its Joomlas fault or you need to learn about Joomla, it’s pissing me off.
All other template makers wil gladly provide a minimal Joomla explaination etc and more than “read this thread” that doesn’t answer anything really in the first place.
You guys have absolutely no concept of support, sorry if I offend but you don’t have a clue about service, I have been in computer service industries for many years, written many guides and manual, produced lots of short video productions and I am appalled by your attitudes towards paying members requests, the smallest briefest answers are given often days after posting.
Get your act together fellas or rocket themes, et al will wipe the deck with you. My main concern is you will be out of business before my membershp runs out in September leaving me out of pocket 🙂

February 13, 2007 at 1:41 pm #214556ShannoN, you might be right in some cases but please read his posting. My site doesn’t look like demo. Where is the error?
He/She has not posted a screenshot, not provided a live url, not given any information about what is not looking the same. This is what I am talking about is a problem.
People need to be AS spesific as possible when they add their questions and need help. That would make the job a lot eaiser for anyone to help out, even perhaps explaining the problem.
Yes, support could and should be better but so could the user requests… And non-template related issues..
I don’t mind helping out but it is a lot easier to “want” to help when someone has provided some information.
Help, I have a problem just doesn’t describe anything very well I think… 🙂

February 13, 2007 at 2:10 pm #214559No I read the post and to me if the site doesn’t look like the demo it means that the sql for the demo site has not been posted, or sent to the user to give them the chance to make teh necessary adjustments.
Remember this was a request I and several others made for the original xenia, I assumed ( wrongly) that this would lead to all future templates having the “demo site” sql and stuff available for download.
I was given the original xenia stuff via a dl link sent by PM. again I assumed the OP had been given this and faced a similar problem to me that I have to put up with a default sql naming convention that I cannot change and really apart from creating the “demo look” site on my HDD using JSAS and then transferring all to server Blah blah.
I’m sorry if I continue to hammer Joomlart about shocking service etc, but eventualy they may get so sick of it they’ll get cracking and do something about it, I’m not big on wikis as the community shouldn’t have to create and maintain a how to for commercial products, these guys are making squillions so they need to spend some and provide detailed guides, not expect us to do it for them, the basic help can be a post away and we all help each other.
But if we are forced by lack of support to provide our own support then the price of membership must drop significantly to acknowledge Joomlart is slack, don’t care and is only there to make dollars IMO

February 13, 2007 at 6:13 pm #214573So basically, if you want to change the layout or design of for example Windows Vista, you would expect Microsoft to answer you how to do this?
Sorry for not letting this go but I think you are asking a lot. Yes, support could and should have been better but when you buy something “advanced” like the templates here it is also necessary to know some basics to be able to change it into something you want. I had ABSOLUTELY no problems getting the site to look EXACTLY the same as the demo, without getting the sql. Of course, I didn’t get the same news items and the same images but everything else was the exact same. It had nothing to do with sql, only placing of modules and so on. All this can be done through Joomla backend.
Anyways, I am done with this, I agree with you on some points ( like support should be better ) however I don’t agree that the company should also “create” templates for dummies books. IMO

February 13, 2007 at 9:23 pm #214576Go to http://www.projectseven.com
look at their products templates etc, look around their forums, they make cutting edge templates (non Jooma) but take extreme time and patience to have a dreamweaver forum and a css forum as well as their product support forum and they do include tutorials on css on how to use dreamweaver even though DW isn’t their product,
they know how to service the community, they know that their templates, design packs, rely on Dreamweaver & CSS knowledge to work.
That’s my point in all this, Joomlart templates are made for Joomla, if no one knows how to use Joomla there is no product base, spo therefore Joomlart and all other Joomla based template makers have an obligation to support Joomla and how to use it effectively dont they?
Joomlart are very familiar with Projectseven, having copied the pVII product demo screen and frames design to display their own products, they would be aware that every template or design pack carries a “dummies”grade manual or tutorial step by step etc
as you say, done with it, I’m flogging a dead horse here and will stop
