    Hi there,

I am setting up the JA Zinc template (grass) on a currently simple site and cannot seem to get a Category/Section Blog Layout to work on multiple columns.
For example, the Section Blog Layout “Coaching” at http://www.ditchlingcolts.com/colts/coaching.html is set to
    # Leading 1
    # Intro 20
    Columns 2
    # Links 4
    Multicolumn order – Across
but the content only travels down the first column

On inspecting the elements on the page
    <td valign=”top” width=”50%” class=”article_column”> which seems OK, but
<td valign=”top” width=”50%” class=”article_column column_separator“> forces the articles into the first column below each other. This also happens on category blog layouts at two columns and above.

I’ve checked the CSS in template.css and I can’t see why the column_separator is picking up a 50% td as it’s set as
    .column_separator {
    padding: 0 25px;
    }

I’m on Joomla 1.5.8 and haven’t edited any CSS or html for the template (yet).

    Any Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mal

    Hi glottalstop,

    It is not a problem.

This cause is from # Intro 20.
There are only 6 articles in this section. For this reason, all articles only display at one column.

Please try with # Intro 6, you will see that your articles will display on two columns.

The structure displays articles in this page:

    1 | 4
    2 | 5
    3 | 6
    …..

    Hope it helps.

    Hi JA Developer,

Thanks for the answer, it worked, but I think I have misunderstood something or there’s a problem with some code somewhere as the layout still isn’t correct.

I wanted the The structure display of the articles in this page to go across the page:
    1 | 2
    3 | 4
    5 | 6
    7 | 8 etc

As there will probably be more user-added articles, I didn’t want to have to constantly tweak the Intro value as the section filled up (so set it at 20, assuming that if there were fewer, the page would truncate). As I set the Multicolumn order to Across, I expected these settings to give me the layout above – but the content still goes down the first column and then the second, rather than as above.
    Settings are now:
    # Leading 1
    # Intro 6
    Columns 2
    # Links 0
    Multi Column Order – Across

    And I get
    1——-
    2 | 5
    3 | 6
    4 | 7

Multi Column Order – Across isn’t working

    Have I missed something here?
    Many thanks.

    Hi

I find that really strange too. Is it unique to this template, because I have never come across that before?

    Thanks,
    Simon

    Hello?
Anyone have any solution to this problem of Multi Column Order, Across, not working in JA_Zinc (grass) in a Category/Section Blog Layout? THIS IS NOT ANSWERED properly yet, so could Mods un-tick that please.

This is an issue with Zeolite template too.

I want the structure to display the articles in this page going across the page:

    1 | 2
    3 | 4
    5 | 6
    7 | 8 etc

Cannont get the columns show category/section blog going across, even though have chosen directon to be across. Am using Joomla 1.5.8

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Mackas
