July 17, 2010 at 5:40 pm #152633I have selected 9 categories from 3 different sections to highlight articles. I have the content slider set to show 6 thumbnails at a time. It correctly shows the articles when clicked on.
The problem lies with the breadcrumbs. I understand that the breadcrumbs – it is inconsistent. Sometimes it just displays Home->Article Title, other times Home->Section -> Category -> Article Title and then other times Home -> Category -> Article Title.
If you want to view it you can at: http://www.transitionlifecoach.ca
So I am not sure why it varies. Any ideas?
Thanks

July 28, 2010 at 4:10 am #351001There is something weird happening with the breadcrumbs, alias and urls. Changes to the alias does not always result in a change to the url or the breadcrumbs. I am using SEF urls with apach mod rewrite. I have the system cache set to no and the content slide cache set to Don’t cache.
I changed the title and the alias on a couple of the articles that are part of the content slide. I also purged the cleaned the cache and purged expired cache. I can see the change in the article but neither the breadcrumbs nor the url get updated. Below you will find a summary of some of the content slider items. #1 & #2 are articles in the same category but the breadcrumbs are totally different.
How or where are the breadcrumbs and alias updated – are they cached elsewhere?
slider name (section/category/article) Alias | Breadcrumbs
1. Monthly Live Forums (Services/On Line Consultations/Monthly Live Forums) monthly-live-forums | Home->Services->On Line Consultations -> Monthly Live forums
2. On Line Consultations (Services/On Line Consultations/On Line ConsulationsX) online-consultationsx | Home -> On Line Consulting
3. Make Up Lessons (Services/Make Up Lessons/Make Up Lessons) make-up-lesson | Home -> Make Up Lessons
4. Make Up Applications (Services/Make Up Applications/Make Up Applications) make-up-applications | Home -> Make Up Applications
5. photography (Services/Photography) photography | Home -> Photography
5. behavior skills (Services/Behavioural/Behavior Skills) behavioural-skills | Home -> Behavior Skills
6. Medical (Resources/Medical/Medical Options) medical-options | Home -> Medical -> Medical Options
7. Champagne Afternoons (Services/Champagne Afternoons/Champagne Afternoons) champagne-afternoons | Home -> Champagne Afternoons
8. Girls Get TogethersZ (Services/Girls Get Togethers/Girls Get TogethersZ) girls-get-togethersZ | Home -> Girl’s Get TogethersThanks

August 2, 2010 at 6:57 am #351443Hello jwdavis!
I understood the problem, here is the link of this article: /component/content/article/57-upcoming-events/90-be-all-conference-chicago
The problem is here, the artilcle is not related with any menu item in the main menu, so that the link is rendered not simliar with others: example with /photography article.If any artlces have not related with menu item ID, so the breadcumb is understood the link related home menu only
