Hi all.
I have installed the JA_Newsflash module for my J! 1.5 version. I moved it to the top position, changed the height as specified for my template (JA_Fagus), and assigned it a category.
Now it is published on my site (http://www.askavetstudent.com/joomla), but it has the template pictures and it just says to select a category. But, it has a category! I have tried assigning different categories… should it be a special *kind* of category? Can I just get a little bit more direction?
It is a great tool, and I can’t wait for it to be working…
Thanks,

April 22, 2008 at 7:52 pm #246470Im having the same problem. When I change the category to my “general” category the articles show up fine. But when I specifiy the category I actually want “news” it says I need to select a category… I have 3 articles in the “news” category and it still doesnt work…
I know I have the settings right since it works when I put general just not for News…
April 22, 2008 at 8:55 pm #246477I’m using JA newsflash 1.0.0 (downloaded from ja corona extensions for joomla 1.5).
Joomla 1.5 with ja utahia II.I have 10 categories and the ja_newsflash works gerat for all of them except for one.
It says: Please select a category for JA Newsflash! But I’ve select a category with articles. I’ve already tried:
1) uninstall and reinstall module
2) change category/article name
3) removing the ‘problematic category’, including this articles inside and recreate everything.I also search the forum. Nothing.
Can someome, please show me the way?scottaking Friendscottaking

April 25, 2008 at 3:18 am #246759It eventually picks up on the articles. For me it took 10 hours before it found them. I do not know why but just letting you know that if you select a category for it, go to sleep, in the morning it should be working. I really wish this was instant.

July 2, 2008 at 9:35 pm #257682It has to do with the time zone that your server is set in. I found it confusing too, but you can actually adjust your server time zones with your host in many cased.
March 29, 2009 at 2:57 pm #298867Well, I tried various publish settings (yesterday, day before, last week), but in the end, the picture (topimg.png, maybe?) and the newsflash articles just showed up over night. Just have to wait it out I guess. Seriously, weird.
EDIT: A few more things to add to…I’m using FF 3.0.8, and scroll up does not break anything. Also, setting the Height of div to 120 cuts off the topimg, whose dimensions are 350×180. Upped to 180, and it doesnt appear to be hurting anything. May have to just monitor the size of the articles used.

August 18, 2009 at 12:48 am #314592:confused:maybe you can help me config mine on ja fagus… i am using joomla 1.5?
objective: use the mod_janewsflash in position ‘top’ to display the same little blurb on pages 1-5
but on page six display a different blurb.i have created 2 articles…one to display on the 1st 5 pages, and 1 to display on the 6th page.
i have have 2 ‘mod_jannewsflash’ modules.
i have set 1 module to display 1 of the articles on all pages except the 6th
1 have set the other module to display on only one page, the 6th.i can only have one article appear … the same one. i can get each one to appear, but never both at the designated pages
i just cannot figure this out. can anyone tell me how to approach this?
thank you.
