    Greetings Joomlart:

    REV: jatc_nex_t3_j3x
    MySQL: 5.5.32-31.0-log
    PHP: 5.3.27

    Tried numerous times installing the latest quickstart for 3.2 fresh with different subdomains/DB’s and am receiving SQL errors upon creating new categories, articles, etc. In addition I’m trying to understand the new T3 layout for the template, as positions have obviously changed and even in the quick start, the JA News Featured module is configured for ‘top-home1’ but that’s not a valid position in this quickstart.

    OK, so surely I can create the new position, but isn’t this what the quickstart is supposed to do…simplify the demo for instruction on migrating my 3.1 site to 3.2?

    So I created a new SD and installed J3.2, then the T3 plugin and associated template/plugins/modules. I don’t receive the SQL error when created categories/articles (it must be something with this new quickstart as I’ve tried quite a few times).

    Any guidance on styling the JA News Featured module to look and feel like the old 3.1 version? I have changed the mod suffix to reflex the new ‘ featured-module’ suffix.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks so much,

    Andy

    Template Layout for JA News Featured

    In the quickstart .ini for 3.2 this is what I saw:

    [block1@spotlight-1]
    position=”top-home1″
    default=”span4″

    [block2@spotlight-1]
    position=”top-home3″
    default=”span4″

    [block3@spotlight-1]
    position=”top-home3″
    default=”span4″

    So I changed it to (modifying the span as well to reflect the previous 3.1 template):

    [block1@spotlight-1]
    position=”top-home1″
    default=”span6″

    [block2@spotlight-1]
    position=”top-home2″
    default=”span3″

    [block3@spotlight-1]
    position=”top-home3″
    default=”span3″

    The template layout is now fixed/proportioned correctly according to the older 3.1 template. I still don’t know why there are SQL errors, but with the errors it’s forcing me to learn how to modifying the template according to the instructions on http://t3-framework.org/, so thanks for that at least 😛

    Thanks so much,

    Andy

    Dear Andy,

    I can’t access your site with admin account you PMed me. I also tried to download quickstart package of JA Nex T3 J.3.x and install it with sample data, create new category / article but I didn’t see any SQL error. I see there is few data in frontend of your site, did you install without sample data? or tell me steps to reproduce this error so that I can check.

    Regards

    Greetings Saguaros:

    PM’d again…validated the login and not sure why it didn’t let you in the first time. I did not load up the sample data, just the quickstart with no data.

    Basically unpacked the package and went through the installation. I can join you on a gotomeeting.com session and walk you through it if you’d like…I’m rather flexible.

    Thanks so much,

    Andy

    Dear Andy,

    The purpose of quickstart package is that it helps to have sample data installed alike demo setup. So if you install quickstart without sample data, it will lose that idea. Anyway, I will pass this to team for further checking.

    Thank you for your report. It’s much appreciated.

    Greetings Saguaros:

    I’m familiar with what the quickstart package is supposed to accomplish and quite frankly am pleased that Joomlart does indeed provide this level assistance; I just chose to not install the sample data in this and other instances.

    Thanks for your continued support in the SQL issue.

    Much appreciated,

    Andy

    Greetings Saguaros:

    I do very much appreciate the follow-up. That being said I installed again the quick start, and this time I also installed the demo content which I had not done previously. With demo content installed I do not receive the SQL error. The condition only arises with the lack of demo content being installed.

    Thanks very much for your efforts and apprising me with an update.

    Thanks so much,

    Andy
