JALARIX instalation
——————————————————————————–
I need help to install JALarix template,
I delete all files folders from my public_html folder then I upload ja_larix_for_joomla_1.5.v1.4.zip file. I extracted there and now i have Extentions,Quickstart and Templates folders and Quickstart folder also had zip folder and i extracted.
NOW I went to my website and i clicked Quickstart and installation page showed up i went next –> next and i reached database settings,
So do we have to create database before continue installation? because instalation was asking me HOSTNAME, USERNAME,PASSWORD and DATABASE name ..so should I go back to FIleManager to create a database and come back here?? what should I do?
NOTE to Administrator people : could you install for me JALarix +virtuemart to my website?..Thanks

Because your server is not configured correctly. Contact your hosting provider.

March 22, 2009 at 6:29 am #297238You have installed your site in your quickstart folder.
If you want your site to show up on http://www.pcreadytogo.com. Then you should have extracted the quickstart.zip into the root of your server.
Manually you need to move your files from the quickstart folder to your root folder and then run the installer.
currently your url shows files and folders, because there is no index.html or index.php into it.

When your server would be working like a server should work, than you will NEVER reach such a directory even when the index file is missing. I know, I have seen sites in asian regions where it seems to be normal to run the server with such unprofessional configuration, but no serious site, truly serious site has it’s server set up this way. Whenever a public visitor can reach the directories there is definitely somthing wrong, and you know, when this is not configured cirrectly, with the right statement anyone can still reach this directory via a browser also when there is an index file in the root, and this is not good.
THANKS!

March 22, 2009 at 1:26 pm #297288In disagreement with your above post.
1. I host with lunarpages.com….. as per your statements lunarpages.com should be labelled as bad hosting company?
2. If index.html wasn’t required to protect the directory listing, then why joomla and other components maker or even joomlart gives a blank index.html file in each of their folders?this is the content of index.html files found in each and every folder of joomlart templates, where index.php is not required.
<
html><body bgcolor=”#FFFFFF”></body></html>
Any web server on request from broswer locates the directory and searches for default files such as index.php, index.html, index.asp, index.jsp etc… and if it does not find the default files, then it shows the directory listing.
To reaffirm here is the post from siteground.com forums
http://forum.siteground.com/showthread.php?t=659
So siteground.com is also not properly configured?
Its not about asian servers, its not fair to put it that ways, atleast not on this issue.
regards and no offence please.
