JA-NEWSLIGHT seems like a very useful program – I just wish I could use it.
I have spent two days trying to get Ja-Newslight to work and there is definitely something wrong. It must be with how the database handles it – I noticed in the extension there is a php file so I assume it handles its own database.
I tried to modify using the ORIGINAL files – I used the same size photo as in the small little photo that shows the intro text and it will NOT show up. IF this photo is changed, modified etc it will NOT show up. The weirdest thing I have ever seen. I am using the same size and file type in photoshop. I even renamed it to the same name as the original thumbnail and the OLD thumbnail would show up.
Eventually, NOTHING shows up. I can see it is trying to display something but NOTHING shows up at all. I used uploaded image files into the same directory as the original with a new image but same name to see if that would work and used the Media Manager etc. The old image seems to remain in the Ja-newslight database for sometimes. I refreshed the browser until I saw the new image in the Media Manager (sometimes it would still show the old one) but then it won’t show at ALL in the Janewslight list.
So..I made a new section and category and followed the directions by making sure there to create a menu item in the Menu Manager – and then had the Janewslight point to that NEW section and category and it would NOT show anything at all! NOTHING.
The New section and category will show up otherwise but NOT in the Janewslight module at all.
It looks like many have the same problem with it but no one has fixed it yet. I will just have to use CSS to do something like it myself. in a module.
Very nice idea – too bad a NEW IMAGE will NOT show up when you try to modify the demo content and NOTHING shows up with a new SECTION and CATEGORY.
It is so frustrating to experiment with module after module with Joomla that Does NOT work.
I sometimes just use javascript and CSS now.
