January 29, 2009 at 2:31 am #137615I am getting a weird error with JaNewsLight. All “Read More” links work correctly the first time you use them. They take you to another page where the content is. But, if you go back to the Homepage and try to click any of them again all of the content just appears on the homepage; it doesn’t take you to the new page. And, now there is some extra code at the end of the url.
This has been addressed in a previous thread, and supposedly answered…but there is no answer. I need to get this solved before going live.
Here is the link before and after. Notice the &Itemid=1 appearing after the 2nd link
Thanks in advance for your help

January 29, 2009 at 5:02 am #288749In the Administrative area…goto > EXTENTIONS > MODULE MANAGER > JA_NEWSLIGHT.
In the Menu Assignment area…you will probably see that you have all pages selected.
Check “Select Menu Item(s) from the list” … and then highlight only “Home”…then save. What has been happening when you click on “Read More”…it actually is going to the page…you just have to scroll down the page to see it because the Newslight Module is still showing at the top of every page. You’re not actually on the front page, but it looks like it until you scroll down.
That should do it.
Have fun.

January 29, 2009 at 6:12 am #288759Thanks, but that is not it. I already had “HOME” selected, and nothing else. Any other ideas?
And yes, I see now that the NewsLight module is showing at the top of each page…I’m not stuck on the homepage. So, why is it doing that if I’ve only selected HOME?
Thanks in advance

January 30, 2009 at 5:07 am #288912I was so frustrated by this whole thing that I decided to redo the website step by step and determine where things went wrong.
And, I found the problem…at least for my situation. But, it is so bizarre that I feel it must be affecting the others out there.
The problem for me was unpublishing/deleting main menu items. They were ones that came with the ‘sample data’ at install. After I had unpublished the unnecessary ones, I went back to my homepage, and JaNewsLight was showing up on everypage. I know…it sounds unrelated…but stay with me.
So, I went back and unpublished one at a time. Eventually I discovered that the one causing grief was a sub-menu under the J!Content menu item. Leave it published, all is fine…unpublish and the site is broken.
If you click on that menu item, you get an error on the following screen that I do not understand.
JFolder::files: Path is not folderWhat does that mean?
Anyway, I hope this helps some of you at least…and if anyone can solve this mystery, please advise
(I’ve attached a couple images to illustrate what I’m talking about)

February 10, 2009 at 1:11 am #290337Hey,
I solved the one problem, but now that “Blog” menu item is causing me grief. When users login, several menus pop up on the right side of the screen. Two I set to do it (User Menu & Publisher Menu), and then there is a weird one called “On This Page” which has just one menu item : “BLOG”. It does not appear onthe frontpage, but on all articles under the JaNewsLight section. WTF?! This keeps popping up to drive me crazy.
No matter what I do, I cannot get rid of it. If I change the user group permission for that item, from Public, I get 404 errors. If I try to change anything like the word blog or what it links to or the type of link, I get the itemid=1 error mentioned above in the first post.
I cannot have this messing with my site. It will look very unprofessional, and I have people paying to be on my site. I need to get this fixed asap! Please SUPPORT, I need you really bad

February 11, 2009 at 4:57 am #290585Ok, so after reading the post, and speaking to support via email, it seems that that BLOG menu item is important. JaNewsLight needs it to work properly ==> I’m not sure why, but it does.
So, it needed to be published, but I didn’t want to see it anywhere. My solution was to create a new menu (Call it whatever). Publish it in USER10 position, which doesn’t appear on the site. Move the BLOG menu item over to that menu. Voila. The site works perfectly, and the annoying BLOG doesn’t pop up anywhere any more.
Thanks!
