My site runs JAT 3, JA Social, and JA Job Board. It is suffering from very slow page load times when a page is not cached.

The home page takes 17.2 seconds when not cached: http://www.webpagetest.org/result/110618_99_VQ39/1/details/

Once the page is cached performance improves. But how can I decrease the initial page load times of my site? 17.2 seconds is not acceptable.

Latest versions of JAT3, JA Social, and JA Job Board are installed.

JAT3 Cache is Enabled, CSS/JS is Join/Minify, mod_deflate enabled via .htaccess, Joomla standard cache disabled, Joomla page cache plugin disabled.

    Hello sharpdome ,

For increase the Load speed in your website You need to goto :-

1.admin login ->Site->Global Configuration > Server Tab > and select Yes to GZIP Page Compression

2.admin login->Site ->Global Configuration > Systems Tab > under the Cache Settings box, Select Yes to Cache.

For speedup of your Joomal website you can refer to url:-

Thanks for your reply, but that doesn’t answer my question. 🙂 As I said in the first post, page load time for cached pages is fine. It’s when a page is not in the cache that performance is terrible.

My original question: How can I decrease the initial load time for pages on my site that are not yet cached?

Thank you, but those tips are to speed up the rendering of the page. I need help on the Time to First Byte.

If you check the link from my first message, the page render time is fine. http://www.webpagetest.org/result/110618_99_VQ39/1/details/

My problem is the long time between afterRoute and afterDispatch. In other words, the PHP code in JA Job Board and/or JA Social and/or JAT3 Framework is taking up 10 to 15 seconds to start returning a page.

This is still a very large problem with the performance of my site. I am only running JA Job Board with JA Social template.

    Hi Pritam,

Unfortunately the first load times when a page is not cached are taking much too long. Please confirm on my site: Login to the Admin section, clear the cache, and then load the home page. If you turn on debug you will also see the time between afterRoute and afterDispatch is 5+ seconds. No visitor will accept such a slow page load time.

Can you please investigate the cause of the slowness when pages are not cached?

    Thanks for your help! 🙂

    Hello sharpdome,

Well it depends on the amount of processes being executed for each php page, and the site optimization. When you are not logged pages are static so they loads very fast.when you are logged, Joomla cache is not working, that’s the reason for the slowdown. Of course the performance impact is greater if you are using a heavy weight template.

For increase the Load speed in your website , You can refer to this :-

Hi sharpdome, I am experiencing the same situation on a website that has jomsocial and ja-t3 (ja-social). It seems both features create an awful combination (although I could also speak of other jat3 templates but not as much). I had to move out of a shared hosting account to a VPS to get it working reasonably. I can confirm cached pages are instant, but page rendering, php time, to be clear, is terribly slow.

    Best regards,
    Willie
