My problem is not so much with jatabs, as with my understnding of Joomla!, I guess, but…

When using “jatabs type=”module” in your demo, you’ve created a bunch of module types, such as mod_flowers, mod_flowers2, mod_flowers3 etc.

How do you do that?

    In the administrator “back end”:

    1. Click on extensions/module manager
    2. Click on “New”
    3. Click the button for the type of module you want to create – for instance if you want a video in the jatabs tab then you might create an allvideosreloaded module (the extension is installed in the vauxite template.)
    4. Make sure your new modules are in the same position as your ja_tabs module (in the vauxite demo the position is user5.)
    5. Make sure the new modules and the ja tabs module are enabled / published
    6. Make sure the order of your new modules is the same as you want your tab order to be

Yes, that makes me a new module of whatever type I choose, but in the demos – the module types are “custom”. Not just a module called flower1, but a module type called mod_flower1. That’s the tricky bit for me.

If I understand you correctly, I think the answer is really quite simple.

When you create a module (of any kind) give it a title with the “mod_” prefix, and enable show title.

It will show up in your modules listing with that title with the “mod_” prefix:

No dsl3 is correct. They are actually module types with the name mod_flowers1 etc. I suspect what JA did was simply go to main_joomla_folder/modules/mod_custom and make several copies and rename them.

The reason for this is with jatabs type=”module” you must select the module type rather than the module name. If you want several tabs showing custom modules and you select mod_custom, it will show the same module on each tab. But if you create (copy) several mod_customs and give them new names they will become new ‘types’ and this allows you to have several mod_customs.

    I hope this is clear?

    Thanks both of you.
