December 9, 2006 at 6:41 pm #117914I realize that my installation has been heavily customized, but my regulus template shows a javascript error on almost every page. I am starting to think that the error may be in the menu JS.
When I use Firefox there are no JS errors at all, but in IE7 on every page I get several JS errors such as
<blockquote>”lenght” is null or not an object</blockquote>
orSyntax error
or
Object doean't support this property or method
(this happens when I try to use the jogadgets mambot)I have installed jogadgets but I am only using it on one page as a test:
http://www.conticreative.com/services/services/the-web-design-process.html
However, jogadgets refuses to work in IE7 but it works great in FF2.What could that be? I am a real dog with javascript and I would appreciate your help a great deal.

December 9, 2006 at 10:27 pm #212421I have just tried to assign a different template to the pag where I am trying jogadgets and now it works great both in IE and FF. As far as the jogadgets javascript error is definately an issue with ja-regulus

December 10, 2006 at 1:01 am #212423OK, Finally I realized that Jogadgets had no fault in this issue. The real culprit for my sitewide JS error was JCEutilities mambot. deactivating it fixed the global JS error.
In order to troubleshoot it I have tried several tricks. The one that helped me narrow down the problem has been to do a “view source” of one of the pages and work with it locally by saving it in my local joomla directory as a plain html file. With this trick everything works as if the page was generated dynamically and I get the same error upon running the page.
I started deleting lines of code and <script> includes one by one. When I deleted this line:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.conticreative.com/mambots/system/jceutils/jscripts/utils.js"></script>the error disappeared. Putting it back in it reappears.
I disabled the jce utilities mambot and the problem was gone.
However
When I tried the Jogadgets scripts (which by the way work great with the stock regulus_ex template on a staging site) I found out that by deleting this line of code from the html file saved as above:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.conticreative.com/templates/Conticreative_regulus_ex/scripts/prototype.lite.js"></script>
Jogadgets once again works flawlessly.
At this point it is an issue in regulus_ex, not jogadgets.
I will do without the jceutils as I didn’t use it much anyway, but I’ll need to fix this problem with the prototype.lite.js file. I’d really like to use the jogadgets mambot and my template does not use the roller anyway (which I think it’s where this thing is coming from). What is the prototype.lite.js file and can I fix it or get rid of it?

December 12, 2006 at 2:25 am #212467Hi corrado444,
The prototype.lite.js was included in JA Regulus is a small version of Prototype library, slimmed down by moo.fx author (Valerio Proietti). If the roller is used with other extensions that using Prototype library, it can produce errors.
If you don’t want to use the roller, please remove it in hardcode way by reading this thread
