March 18, 2012 at 1:54 am #175121Hi,
I’ve just had a clean manual install of Droid. While installing some of the plugins I got this message:
JFolder: :folder: Path is not a folder. Path:
It also appeared when I first modified a menu item.
Could you help, please?
Blazej

March 18, 2012 at 2:37 am #444250Thanks. Latest Joomla – just installed. Does ftp layer mean configuring ftp options on Joomla install? If so, then no ftp.

March 18, 2012 at 2:46 am #444252Yes that’s what ftp layer is, so i suggest that you enable this layer (using your ftp details) and try again, but if the problem remains then i suggest that you contact your host since this issue in some cases (most of them) is relevant to permission errors in your installation.
Usually if your server does not support phpSUexec the apache is the owner of the files and that gives joomla an other similar CMS’s not to be able to write into the folders they need unless you enable the ftp layer.

March 18, 2012 at 3:07 am #444256Thanks. Don’t know why, but it doesn’t work. When I enable the ftp in Global config, enter the details and save it, there’s no error message but nothing changes. When I go back FTP the details are no longer there…

March 18, 2012 at 8:07 am #444282Thank you. It worked with the php file. And the ftp details appear all right also in the Global Config. But unfortunately no effect on the erroro message.
Why is the php not writable? I think there must have been something wrong with it right from the start, as I couldn’t get the whole thing up and running without manually setting the livesite parameter in configuration.php.
If that’s a problem with my provider’s settings, could you please suggest what I should be nagging them about? They’re supposed to be J-friendly and even have an auto-install option.
Best,

March 18, 2012 at 3:32 pm #444338Hi,
I can’t be 100% accurate without been able to see the problem my suggestion is that you contact your host and inform them about the problem.
They are able to see the server logs and with that information in hand they will be able to identify the problem!Please let me know if there is anything else you need help with. If this is solved for you please mark the thread as solved.

March 21, 2012 at 6:36 pm #444984Thanks. They asked me to change a few lines in path.php and things are working all right. 🙂

March 21, 2012 at 7:27 pm #444987Hi,
I’ll continue here as it may be related:
Now I’m trying to configure Slideshow. Again weird behaviour – the changes do not save. When I click “Save and Close” nothing happens. What can it be? It is my host again?I tried with other modules in other positions – changes save all right.

March 21, 2012 at 7:37 pm #444990That sounds like a JS conflict, please provide a link to your website as long as a temporary super admin access to your joomla backed.

March 21, 2012 at 8:20 pm #444997Hi,
I can see some issues again with “JFTP: :mkdir: Bad response” and this is an issue while you are trying to save data. An other weird thing is that you have the absolute path set to /xxxxxx (where xxxxx is your site ) instead of /home/xxxxx/logs, since i haven’t seen that before i am not that sure that it’s the correct path.
As Joomla not JAT3 are not able to save tmp files this is causing issues and unwanted behavior.
Since you almost just started building your web site i would suggest that you try and setup the quick start package that set’s everything and then you can continue by customizing your website according to your needs.1 user says Thank You to Manos for this useful post

March 21, 2012 at 8:42 pm #444999Hi,
Thanks. I suppose the settings you mentioned is just what they asked me to change in the code:
if (strpos($path, JPath::clean(JPATH_ROOT)) !== 0) {
CHANGED TO:
if (strpos($path, JPath::clean(‘/’)) !== 0) {
AND:
if(empty($path)) {
$path = JPATH_ROOT;}
CHANGED TO:
if(empty($path)) {
$path = “/”;}
I started with the quick start package. There were similar problems+it was annoying to have to wade through all the elements I did not know and could not decide whether they were needed or not. I’ve built Joomla sites some years ago with RocketThemes templates and also did it from scratch. I just guess this is my way. ;-)) Sorry, if the result will be a few more questions. I hate doing things I don’t understand – even if the result was to be spectacular.
I also need to verify if my host has gone downhill. If so, I’ll just change the host.
Please, have a look at the lines above. Could they have solved one problem and caused another one?
Best,

March 21, 2012 at 8:50 pm #445000One more thing, here’s a translation of my host’s explanation of the changes:
Joomla typically works with apache. Home.pl is using IdeaWebServer where the main folder is marked as ‘/’, that’s why you need to configure it manually. (changes in path.php and configuration.php)
Does that make any sense?

March 22, 2012 at 1:19 am #445025I don’t know what to tell you since i have never used IdeaWebServer but i do believe that this solved one of your issues and let unsolved some others, for instance if you try to upgrade your website using JA Extension Manager you will get the same result (not enough permissions to create directories).
With that said i find it difficult to run smoothly Joomla on a web server that doesn’t comply with Joomla requirements
