Very frustrating but I have moved my site online from the local testing server and now I get this error when trying to install a module/component frim within the install area of ADMIN.

What did i do! How can I fix it as it is nowdriving me mad MAD lol.

your thoughts and ideas would be graciously accepted.

I did manage to solve on my own, Although I did read the posts at teh two links you sent.

It appears that in my case, I didnt need to go to any where near the legnths as some of those guys went.

The problem was solved simply by going into my configurtaion file and manually applying teh FT settings. Then re uploading the config file to my site via FTP software.

The problem seemed to be that the COnfig had teh wrong temp and log file locations (The location was still on my old server) so it messed something up some where, but when I fixed this and teh manual ftp jobby all went swimmingly.

Thanks again mate for your well guided finger, it was interesting to see the problems that some people have had and now I feel far more fortunate.
