    hi
I have a problems with my site when I optimize JS for the template (choosing any of these options:join, join & minify, join & minify & compress):
The “MyBookshelf” feature disappears from the top of the page

but it working on one menu option that is “SOCIAL” and The dropline main navigation stops working (subnav choices don’t show up) in few of the pages.

    my site url is:

I’m having a problem on another site with optimizing JS using the JA Portfolio template. I set up this other site using the quickstart, so the site is pretty much an out-of-the box installation. On this other site dullescommercialpros.com, I installed the JCE editor. It will only work on the front end if optimize JS is set to no. There seems to be a definite issue with this feature in Joomlart templates.

It is not a problem with the feature but a problem when combining certain JS files. The JCE editor for instance just does not like to play with many other JS scripts when combined in any way. It is even more of a problem when third party developers decide to use a different JS library than the one built into Joomla. It is an inherant problem when using any method to join JS files. As I am sure you are aware, simply having multiple JS scripts on the same web page can cause conflicts. That is why the JA developers have given you the option to exclude certain JS files from compression. Simply add the suspect JS files to the exclude list and you will be good to go.

    Phil,
Thanks for your answer. I see the optimize exclude choice below Optimize JS and CSS. I hope that I am not asking too much, but how do I determine which files to exclude?
    Best regards,

That is quite hard to work out. Normally I use firebug to look for errors. Or you can look in the JCE editors js files and exclude them one by one until you find the culprit. I am not the best at diagnosing these sorts of problems myself and usually fall back on trial and error. A real pain I know, just been through it myself. Hopefully someone with a greater knowledge than me can pipe in and detail a better way to debug this type of problem.

    Phil,
Thanks for your help. Yeah, I’ll probably start with the site with just the JCE problem to get the hang of it. Then I’ll move on to the site with more 3rd party extension.
BTW – anyone have a list of the JS files that come with Joomlart templates? If I’m taking a process of elimination approach, it would be nice to start with any non-Joomlart JS files and remove them from the exclude list one by one to see the effect.
    Best regards,
    Bill

There’re no list of JS files for you now. You could disable modules and plugins one by one to see the effect. Normally the modules and plugins include almost JS files of the site.
