Is it directly from the development team, or are their hands tied? I would like to hear remarks genuinely from the horses mouth regarding the “update that appears to be silenced.”
Thanks.</blockquote>
Could you PM me if you don’t mind with your hunch? If there is no chances of it we’ll need to start on a new template, thanks 🙂January 14, 2012 at 10:36 am #433833Thanks for the reply – if you could find out from the team who do handle it and direct them to this forum that would be appreciated

January 14, 2012 at 6:46 pm #433852Hi callena,
Template like JA Social or others which do have styles for 3rd party extensions are usually taken up for update on a 3 months cycle, irrespective of the component’s release cycle.
with Joomla 2.5 looming around, we would update Jomsocial latest version for JA social with the joomla 2.5 stable version release update process at JA.
given the load and versions to maintain currently, there is no alternative to this.

January 15, 2012 at 1:38 am #433876Has anyone noticed that a couple replies were yanked from this thread? Two to be exact…and one of them way mine!
January 16, 2012 at 7:55 pm #434049I compared the demo site and my site http://dce.shortcutsolutions.net in detail. I found that my site, on the newsfeed items there is a missing class of ‘joms-newsfeed-item’. If I manually edit the code live, the stream is much more correct as per attached image.
Is this something that is just missing from the joomlart template as far as activity streams and JOMSOCIAL 2.4 are concerned? Can you add that class back to your template and perhaps get us back to running officially?
UPDATE (After getting an email asking me to create new post elsewhere)
The problem was in this file:
[webfolderoot]/components/com_community/templates/default/activities.index.php
I inserted the code ‘joms-newsfeed-item’ in this file and now my activity feeds are looking/working properly.

January 21, 2012 at 2:20 am #434738I’m just upset that this wasn’t clearly outlined in the Template demo or the template information that the template was NOT compatible with JomSocial 2.4, I only purchased the template club for this specific template because of the custom themes. I tried to pay another company to help fix the issues with the update but they said they wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot stick, there were too many css overrides and that the theme was built into not only the community template but also the com_community files were changed too…So my only hope is for the Devs to update here.
Also@ jooservices, are you a member of the dev team or just a 3rd party commercial for hire? You seem to be confusing everything here, if there is an update available it should not have to be PM-ed, as the only people able to view this thread are active subscribers. Your repetitive attempts to “help” are only confusing the users trying to get support from Joomlart Support and Dev team. If you are in fact “helping” than please submit all the new patches for us to update.
Just so it’s clear I am not trying to be pessimistic I am clearly trying to keep this thread on topic. In it’s current state JA Social is not compatible with JomSocial 2.4+, the users are asking for timelines for an update. I am willing to put an ADDITIONAL $50-100 if I can get a solution in the next couple days(EDIT: Or within a couple days of J!2.5), although I feel I have already paid for the template and did not receive my end of the deal.
@tomc, Why do component companies such as Azrul put out updates? For many reasons, and I think you understand this. Also the compatible versions are clearly not displayed for users to see, so how is anyone supposed to know not to update YET or EVER, because there is also no active member of Joomlart keeping the members up-to-date. There should be a sticky thread in the JA Social area specifically for this, since the template is sold to be compatible with 3rd party extensions.
From what I gather from drarvindc‘s post is there will not be a new update to JA Social until Joomla 2.5 is released? Which was projected Jan 24, 2012. BUT Kunenea 1.7.1 will not be compatible, K1.7.2 and 2.0 will be BUT will JA Social than be compatible with both? Does the 3 month cycle start AFTER all key players are on stable versions? JomSocial 2.6? Will donations speed the process?

In addition to our Community Forum sections, we also feature an UPDATES section – the link for which is within the navigation list just below the JoomlArt logo. This is where you can certainly check into regularly to check on updates for our JoomlArt products – including template and extension updates.Once again, JA Social was designed as a theme that can be used with the JomSocial component. As you correctly identified, the JomSocial component is a 3rd Party component and, as such, update control and/or schedule is within Arzul’s discretion. I’m sure you understand and agree that technology often advances very quickly – and our JA Development Team is not only tasked with creating fresh/new templates each month … but reviewing/correcting bugs, updating files and planning our roadmap prep and plan-of-action in relation to next week’s anticipated release of Joomla’s next LTR version – 2.5.
So, while we most certainly endeavor to provide as diverse, functional and up-to-date products for our Members as possible, we also want to make certain that our updates are practical and make sense – not necessarily to be dictated by the update/release schedule of a 3rd party developer. There are a lot more things going on ‘behind the scenes” at JoomlArt than I think you think you realize . . . every day is a busy day across the JA Team, and we’re doing our best to provide the best quality for all.
Appreciate your patience and consideration throughout this process.

I’ll try to help you.Yes i understand, you are right about JomoSocial 2.4 is nice upgrading and should not missed. In JA side, we ‘r working to make this upgrade for template. Please allow us for a time.
I can understand that there will be a delay in expecting 3rd party templates for JomSocial 2.4 to be made ready for use with this version of JomSocial so long as that amount of time is reasonable. Joomla is now releasing 2.5 and granted this has everyone scrambling to play catch up which is wreaking havoc with our clients so the pressure is on guys and its time to shine! Not whine! Our one JomSocial site is using a restyled ja_social template and now the “Photos” for users galleries won’t display correctly and they are being shoved to the far right and are being cropped at the same time. The other issues mentioned by others on this thread I cannot speak too as we opted to use the Axxis Super Event, Groups and User Video Galleries components and I have not noted any of these issues with those extensions. I would however LOVE to see this template updated as soon as possible so that we can eliminate the Photo display issue please 🙂
January 29, 2012 at 10:58 pm #436094I just purchased ja social can anyone here help me understand what current versions are working with each other?
Whats the latest version of ja social (1.7 is the latest right?) is compatible with what version of JomSocial? Also if I’m stuck on a older version of JomSocial because JaSocial hasn’t upgraded then what features are missed in JomSocial?
thanks

This is the problem we’ve all been reporting since November – but still no word on the launch of the updated JA_Social template. Apparantly the next release they do will be Joomla 2.5 compatible (and therefore JomSocial 2.4 compatible) but we don’t yet know when it’ll be available.

February 8, 2012 at 4:57 am #437505Sorry folks, I believe this is a dead end wait. Joomla 2.5 has been implemented and no word out about an update in sight. I have a project to finish and it doesn’t look like it will happening here any time soon. I’m moving on to a new template, new company. Happy waiting!
