According to the Jomsocial RC2 release blog, they have updated the JA SOCIAL template to be 2.6 compatible.
From the Jomsocial Blog Entry:
<blockquote>Going through the commit list below, you will notice that we have done a lot, lot of updates to get popular templates from RocketTheme, Joomlart, Yootheme and Gavick to be compatible with JomSocial 2.6. As of now, our just-married designer, Harry has completed updates for RT Affinity, RT Tachyon, JA Social, GK Music and with the help of Candice, solved jQuery clashes with all Yootheme templates, plus Zoo and WidgetKit extensions.</blockquote>How about making this available for those testing 2.6???

March 7, 2012 at 7:16 pm #442444What exactly would you like to be available?

The changes made were coding changes on the Jomsocial side. Guess that’s what I get for not reading thoroughly. :-[

March 8, 2012 at 9:59 am #442554The latest version of the JA Social template for J2.5 is designed to work with Jomsocial 2.4, not 2.2.4 which was the old release.
As for working with Jomsocial 2.6 it is still in beta release and as a result JA have not tested our templates with it. The Jomsocial team might have and from the look of their blog post they have. We cannot say as we tend to wait for the final release before doing full testing. Testing is done in many cases during beta releases but as with all of thes thigs software changes a lot before the final release (and even after that) so it is ofetn pointless doing development work until a product is finalised.
All you can do is give it a go. If it works then fine, if not just downgrade back to Jomsocial 2.4. We cannot suppot Jomsocial 2.6 until we have done full testing and have released our template specifically for it.
March 9, 2012 at 11:46 am #442784What about Joomla 1.5 users? what about the jomsocial template for joomla 1.5? this update has only been done for joomla 2.5 as i understand… no any update for J15 🙁

March 18, 2012 at 4:46 am #444270I’m with alexookah on that….I guess we will all need to upgrade to J!2.5. Phil will/are the K2 and Kunena templates be available for J!2.5? If my only option of turning my frankensite into the JA Social I purchased, I will need to hit the ground running once Jomsocial 2.6 is available. If all the other components are ready to rock-n-roll than I will begin prep work on updating to current releases’ of all components and modules..

March 18, 2012 at 7:24 am #444276Kunena is available in the J2.5 version but sadly the K2 styles are not. While the template is compatible with K2, at the time of release the developers of K2 were not planning on releasing their component for Joomla 1.6/7 and as such a lot of template of that time never had any specific K2 styling added to the Joomla 1.6/7 versions. Sorry but that was out of our hands at the time.
The JA devs may add K2 styling but at this time that has not been finalised.

K2 has since released a J!2.5 version, are you saying the devs have started working on a compatible version of their template for 2.5? I didn’t think K2 was going to change the basic front-end structure when becoming J!2.5 compatible….Has anyone tested the J!1.5 K2 templates on J!2.5 yet? I’m interested to see what would be wrong with it, if anything. I just don’t want to push my live site to J!2.5 without having all the necessary building blocks ready to be stacked.
No disrespect to the JA Devs when I say this, BUT Kunena and K2 were available Day1 of J!2.5 launch. It appears as if JomSocial is doing the work on the JA Social template for their component, so the workload isn’t on JA Devs for this. So why hasn’t the K2 been brought up to date, it just seems like the lesser of the 3 components would be the quickest to fix…
I know the main structure of how JomSocial was built took a HUGE hit going into 2.4, which is why I’m assuming they are taking on the workload for this so as to not disappoint it’s 3rd party devs. BUT like I said, I don’t know what sort of changes K2 and Kunena have made to their structures when upgrading.

March 18, 2012 at 6:05 pm #444358It isn’t quite as simple as that sadly. To re-visit old templates and add new features, because that is what this would be, is very time consuming. For instance, to create the K2 styling for social and fully test it would tie up a developer for about a week which with the huge amount of work currently going on updating components to j2.5 is just not practical. That is not to say it will not happen, just not at this time.
I have written a lot regarding K2updates in this post here – http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-bistro-for-j2-5-released/#post-439501

March 18, 2012 at 8:26 pm #444374I don’t think that thread has any useful information. Tom is basically saying that we have purchased solely the template and that we should all be happy and feel lucky to have received the other templates for the 3rd party templates add-ons that we paid for….;)
Just saying, I would NOT have purchased JA Social without the advertised 3rd party templates or the “subscription for updates” I won’t see before my subscription is up….
I think everyone would feel a lot better if there was more transparency on an update schedule. Let’s say someone said, “Ok, we will be working on the JA Social tamplate updates in 2 weeks. This update will be xx compatible and will include all necessary templates.” It’s a lot better than sitting here waiting for an indefinite amount of time for something that may or may not be coming out. If we need to find other solutions than we need to know…

March 18, 2012 at 8:31 pm #444376LIKE I HAVE SAID IN THE PAST! I WILL pay more for an update right now, I do not like sitting around waiting. I feel this is not right as I have an update subscription but, I am willing to help push the update schedule forward. This is why Joomlart is here, to make money, and I am offering it again on a silver platter…

March 19, 2012 at 5:19 am #444381Sorry Matt but that is not the point. We have never promised K2 styling for the J2.5 version of this template. If we do get it then that will be a bonus. When the J1.6/7 version was released it was stated that there would be no specific K2 styling for a reason and that was because K2 was not available. If you are willing to pay then you should consider paying a freelancer to do that for you. It shouldn’t be too hard to acomplish for someone familiar with K2, Joomla and T3.
Now I myself do not use K2 so the following is totally untested. Attached you will find some files that may do the trick. If it doesn’t work then I cannot spend any more time on it so sorry for that.
Unzip the K2css.zip file
Copy the files K2.css and K2-rts.css to your templates>ja_social>css folder
Unzip the K2.zip file
Copy the 4 folders it contains to templates>ja_social>html folder
