    Hi Everyone

Is anybody here using this combination…

Joom!Fish 2.0 (Beta), Teline II template and Joomla 1.5?

I really want to know how ‘stable’ the Beta release of Joom!Fish 2.0 is? Are there many bugs or does it seem stable?

Also, if anyone has a link to a site using this combination, I’d be grateful.

    Thanks
    Chris

The Beta is working correctly in its main features – i.e. translation. Some of the extras are still not available, but these are not required for the operations of the site, although are useful.

The template itself, needs some changes and fixes to work correctly with Joom!Fish. These are described at this topic:

I have a working site with JF 2.0, but not with this template in particular.

OK. Joom!Fish 2.0 beta now installed plus 5 language extensions.

Question: what is the quickest way of translating all the site content (menus, polls, articles, etc.,) into the other languages?

Typing, there is no other way.

I thought as much, I had a good hunt around the CP, but couldn’t find ‘apply to all’ 😉

ah well, some more work tonight I suppose! 😀

Hi Everyone. I need some help, again! :-[

OK. Here’s what I’ve done so far …

    1. Installed Joom!Fish Beta 2.0

    2. Then installed language packs and ‘activated them’:

This appears to work, because when I then click on the little flags on the front page for each ‘activated’ language, the ‘log-in’ wording changes:

So far, so good. Now this is the bit I just can’t figure out …

I go into Joom!Fish Control Panel. I choose Translation. Then choose “contents” as my Content Element.

This gives me a list of published (currently English) content available for translation.

Now, as far as I understood from the PDF of the “joom!fish install guide” which I have been following, all I had to do now was open the articles I want translated, click ‘Save’ and then click the ‘Publish’ icon to turn this into French in the database?

Unfortunately, this doesn’t work (not just French, all languages). When I’m in the actual article, I get this:

Also, when I click ‘Preview’ in the article, the left column (original) is the article as it is currently in English, the right hand column ‘Translation’ is totally empty.

So, what am I doing wrong? How to translate an article into one of the activated languages?

Any help, as always, greatly appreciated!!

Did you wrote the translation? It is not happening automatically

You mean we have to retype each article ourselves 😮

What kind of ‘translation’ software is that >:(

I thought it would be automated :-[

    Yes, you need to.
It is not a translation software, it allows you to run a site in multiply languages, but does not translates it instead of you.
As stated in the previous posts, automated translations sucks and JF is not an automated translator, but a tool enabling you to translate.

    Many Thanks!!

I’m happy with the French translation, but I’ll need a lot of practice with Russian and Greek 😉

Trouble is, we will be publishing about 30 articles per week, this is a lot of work to rekey them all in another 5 languages!!

    Thanks for the clarification though!!
