Will Joomla ever come up with an automatic update feature?
I’ve got to go around now manually updating all these sites.
Most cPanels won’t have them ready for a while as well.

Can we simply upgrade from any Joomla 1.5.x to this new version without fear of it affecting anything?

Or should be be prepared for possible problems? Reason I ask is that if i should be prepared, I will do the upgrade late at night in case the site ends up down for a while.

I personally never upgrade the day of release unless I’m using a fairly virgin install. If you use custom components I would suggest waiting awhile and keep an eye on their forums for issues.

OK, thanks. That’s a good idea. I will wait it out a while and check out the joomla forum in respect to this release.

I use the Magic Updater available from here: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=355077

Just a couple of clicks and its done.:D

If I am using Quickstart package, then how to update from 1.5.8 to 1.5.11? I downloaded the update package for updating from 1.5.8 to 1.5.11 but I don’t know how to update. Do I just upload the files to overwrite existing files in server?

Yes, just overwrite the existing files.

I did the update yesterday on 3 sites and it went smoothly
