I understand the effort to get all the templates compatible with Joomla 1.7, but I have heard they are coming out with Joomla 2.5 by the end of February. Do you have any knowledge about when the release will be? Will you be updating all of the Joomlart Templates to be compatible with this new release?

    Thanks,

    Ken

The Joomla 2.5 Beta is out – and the release of the final 2.5 is scheduled for this month (although if many bugs are found it may be pushed back).

After looking at the feature list for what will be added, I’m not sure how great the demand for upgrading will be. The fact that it will be a long-term support release means that it will be paid more attention for bug/hacking fixes, and this is a big concern, but personally I don’t know that the new features are game changing in what Joomla already offers.

That being said, I’m always a proponent for using the most current (stable) technology available. I don’t know to what extent the templates and extensions need to be recoded, but I would hope that the major ones that Joomlart offers could be available for 2.5 by April-May of this year.

Could we get some feedback on this issue from joomlart developers? Very curious on your thoughts! 🙂

With the pending advent of the next LTR (Long Term Release) in Joomla 2.5 (slated for last half of Jan 2012), our JA Senior Staff and Devs are currently assessing the prudency of planning for updating our JATC Template Catalog for J2.5 – as opposed to devoting the time and resources for updating the catalog for the interim J1.7.

As J2.5 remains in the beta stage at this point, we will not be able to assess our plan-of-action until such time as either J2.5RC (release candidate) is released or J2.5 stable is ultimately released (as we do not want to design/update for a beta or RC release that is fraught with bugs and errors).

Hope that makes some logical sense at this time . . . and we most certainly appreciate your patience with this process.
