August 7, 2012 at 3:55 pm #179729I am wondering if this template will be converted to joomla 3.0? As we all know it will bring some major changes to templating system, so i am wondering if any of old templates will be converted and fixed for joomla 3.0?
Do you plan to use bootstrap to your templates in future or you will keep the less favoured system you use for responsive themes?
Just want to see which way Joomlart will go so i can decide myself what i need…
Please let us all know your plans.

August 8, 2012 at 6:56 am #463560hi Splico,
We are working on the joomla 3.0 compatibility testings and further plans for updates will be duly announced in the coming weeks. It would not be possible to commit to anything at this stage as Joomla 3.0 is still under development.
At the same time joomla 3.0 will be valid for 6 months only and will then have 3.1 and 3.5 coming up. Certainly we will be updating our products to joomla 3.5 but not all the products may be immediately updated for 3.0
based on our experience of joomla 1.6- 1.7 and 2.5. It would be an huge task and we would prefer to do it once.

Also, there is a very important point to keep in mind: version 3.0 is not for everyone. Joomla 2.5 is the long-term-support (LTS) release, and most production sites now running 2.5 will likely want to stay on 2.5 until version 3.5 is available in September 2013. Version 3.0 is part of the standard support (STS) cycle (along with 3.1) and is for people who need the new features or who just like to be on the leading edge. All users of 3.0 will be expected to update to 3.1 and 3.5 when they are released.

the above quote from joomla.org also suggest moving from 2.5 to 3.5 http://community.joomla.org/blogs/community/1586-version-30-is-coming.html
lets give the team some time while they work on the compatibility, All 2.5 will be 3.5 for sure but 3.0 will be selective (my guess).
Regards
Arvind

August 8, 2012 at 10:02 am #463584Yeah I am aware of the changes as well as of development cycle of Joomla since I actively participate in it :), the question was mostly to see which way JA will go, will they adopt bootstrap or any other option in their templates, thats what i was hoping to get answered. And if not going with bootstrap i would like to know the reason too.
Cheers.

August 16, 2012 at 8:45 am #464397well splico,
We would be updating our templates to bootstrap but not before we roll out our t3 blank and regular monthly template on the bootstrap (whenever we start)… that way we would know of the feedback and things to update.
Once that phase is over.. we will start the upgrade of older (2.5 templates) to 3.0 or 3.5 . Please note 3.0 is 6 monthly release so not all would be upgraded.. we had hard time dealing with 1.6-1.7 and 2.5 .. too many versions were required to be released within very short period….
we will do it but not necessarily all for 3.0 but for 3.5 for sure.
Regards

August 16, 2012 at 8:02 pm #464461Hello Arvind,
Thanks for your comments. I do have a question. I´m allwais installing versión 1.5 as it is a stable version with lots of extensions.
I do have a question:Do you recommend to install the template with version 2.5 instead of 1.5?
Is there a major reason to use 2.5?Thanks 😉

August 17, 2012 at 6:12 am #464499Template 1.5 is for Joomla 1.5 and template 2.5 is jor joomla2.5.
Yes there is a difference, first Joomla 1.5 is obsolete and its support and development stops in little more than month.
Secondly 2.5 joomla is very stable and recommended by Joomla developers to be used in production enviroment. Also with Joomla 3 coming out u will have harder and harder time transfering over and upgrading from 1.5 to 3.5 than from 2.5 to 3.5 which is only a click of a button in admin area.
So yes u should upgrade and keep using 2.5 mainly because support for it is gone very soon = OBSOLETE.
