And you know just what exactly? The pilot is really good. It’s far superior on the garish sequel, and while the personas are somewhat stock plus obvious, let’s remember that this is an animated Disney sequence. But it’s still wise and entertaining. It’s helped by the absolutely stunning visual palette, and of course the power of using animation to recreate this unusual universe is that now all budgetary demands are removed, and literally anything can be made a compenent of the Tron world. The show’s creations are the staple lightscycles and strange, horseshoe-shaped flying battleships, but also whole brand-new ideas and vehicles, each cleverly designed plus sharply rendered. Tron: Legacy was very rather, yet still felt to some degree sterile and cold. On the other hands, “Uprising” brings a wanted sense of warmth plus intimacy to its electronic digital world, something that makes this characters more likable and the settings more interesting. The stark contrasts remain, but there’s a new life towards the set design, and the world seems sleeker with a greater sense of depth.
