March 7, 2012 at 4:52 pm #174721Hello guys.
I have a project for a Network comunicacion equipment and services, the site has to be fully cms like joomla, and needs to have a “store” front. just like Tiris and all Magento Themes.
I currently cannot afford a Magento membership, therefore, im lokking at a Joomlart joomla template that best suits this type of industry, and also haves the capability as virtue mart on Tiris.
What you guys would do? and what Joomlart joomla template would you pick?
thanks for all your ideas!
good day!

March 7, 2012 at 5:55 pm #442419Greetings:
Ironically, I know EXACTLY where you’re coming from. I, too, have been very attracted to the out-of-the-box look/feel and functionality of Magento since it was released several years ago. However, like you, I too want to be able to utilize the robust CMS functionality of Joomla as part of an overall website experience as well. So, what to do?
Well, there are a handful of potential solutions for this that I have found through my own research … most of which involve utilizing ViruteMart as the shopping cart component. (Let me say, however, that VirtueMart is not the end-all solution … I’m merely providing you with some possible alternative options that could help you get as close to the storefront look/feel of Magento as possible, albeit within a Joomla/VirtueMart environment).
There are several VirtueMart Theme Developers out there who, in my opinion, create some pretty decent store themes for VirtueMart – that can be utilized with any Joomla/VirtueMart site (depending on version compatibility, of course). Two that I would recommend are . . . .
POWERED BY VIRTUEMARTand
ALSO, should you wish to further research the Joomla+VirtueMart route, I would highly recommend taking some time to look through the VIRTUEMART EXTENSION DIRECTORY – especially through the VM THEMES and OTHER FOR VM listings. (NOTE/TIP: The latest/newest additions are usually at the end … so, as a tip, what I usually do is click to the last page of the listings and view going backwards).
Again, there ARE other Joomla compatible shopping-cart options you can research as well, one of the latest of which is AceShop – which brings the “power of OpenCart into Joomla.” Other alternatives include RedSHOP and HikaShop
Hope some of that information and insight was helpful to you.
If you have any additional questions or thoughts, feel free to ask.😎

March 7, 2012 at 6:57 pm #442435wow!
Thanks a lot Tom!
Since I have two projects (Network/IT Equipment store) and (Department Store Like Macy´s) I will try this.
Joomla + Redshop (like JA Tiris Joomla Template) for the Technology project
Magento for the Department store. I will use the JM Mozanis http://www.joomlart.com/magento/themes/jm-mozanis
since my customer already pick this theme and I could not find a Joomla version of it 🙂For the Magento theme, even I know of the fully flexible Joomlart architecture and support, I just dont really know if a “quickstart” installation mode is avalilable like Joomla templates, do you know if I can run a Quick install process on Magento themes offered by Joomlart?
I will indeed do more research since I trully share your opinion, and Virtuemart is not the latest song at all!
I really liked the offerings or RedShop on Tiris! Thanks again Tom!

We absolutely provide quickstart installation packages for each of our JMTC Themes – the instructions for which are found within our JMTC Magento Tutorials section of the Community Forum … which is, of course, accessible to JMTC Members.1 user says Thank You to TomC for this useful post
