When I was working within JA Zinc, I noticed it offered a Christmas / Xmas / holiday theme, but I didn’t see that in the demo. Now, I have a potential customer who operates a Christmas fashion business and wants a Christmas themed site. What JA Joomla templates have Christmas themed skins? I noticed there is an Xmas template and the Events template has a lot of holiday animation. I’m looking for something more polished for a higher end design, if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

In general, it would be helpful if there was some type of searchable thumbnail or theme guide for various applications of templates. For instance, categories might be real estate, computer services, website design, bands, art, clothing retailers, music downloads, cars, business-to-business, engineering, medical, etc.

If I had a customer call me and say they have a pet grooming service, it would be nice for me to be able to search “pets” and see if any templates featured this theme, or would be easily adaptable to it. The names of JA Templates rarely indicate anything about the design.

    Hi Brentsr,

Actually we have a few with Christmas themes.
Have you check out our Template Showcase?

For the last couple of years we’ve put out holiday themes around various holidays.
    Nov 2010 – JA Events – Christmas & Halloween
    Dec 2009 – JA Urani – Christmas
    Dec 2008 – JA Zinc – Christmas
    To name just a few…

And ALL (or all that I can ever remember) have RED versions. So turn on the red, swap out a picture for one with snow and holly and INSTANT Christmas. Sometimes being subtle in your visual cues creates the most impact.

Thanks for your suggestion and welcome,
    John

    Hello brentsr,

In your backend, go to Extensions > Template Manager > Click on JA_ZinC > Click on Edit button.

On the right-hand side of your screen, under the “Parameters” section, choose “Xmas” in the “Color Variation” list.

On a side-note, your suggestion about tagging templates is very good, however, time and our idea around templates does not really allow us to do that. Our templates have been used in many niche industries and provide a high level of customization. They’ve been used from the auto-motive industry to the air hostess-training industry. It’d be difficult to tag templates with keywords as they are made to be customized and used in varies projects. We do not really make niche specific templates. It’s too time consuming and with so many niches out there… it’d be quite complex.

Thanks John! I hadn’t seen the Urani Christmas version, and it may be a good match for this project. I did check the Template Showcase all morning, but was unable to find a way to search the different skins / themes without going into each demo and browsing through menus. For instance, how would I see JA Methys with the red palette in the Template Showcase? The description says there are 5 color variations, but I only see the default. Would I have to do a full install just to demo it to a client?

Goto the Template Showcase…and press the arrow in the upper left hand corner to advance through all the different variations.
