March 25, 2008 at 11:00 pm #243191Hold on a sec, I thought that the images in JA-Slideshow could be made clickable.
March 26, 2008 at 1:09 pm #243225And it does include a banner position…
Just look in the templatedetails.xml<positions>
<position>hornav</position>
<position>breadcrumbs</position>
<position>banner</position>
<position>left</position>
<position>right</position>
<position>top</position>
<position>topsl</position>
<position>user1</position>
<position>user2</position>
<position>user3</position>
<position>user4</position>
<position>user5</position>
<position>user6</position>
<position>user7</position>
<position>user8</position>
<position>user9</position>
<position>footer</position>
<position>syndicate</position>
<position>debug</position>
</positions>shackbase Friendshackbase

March 26, 2008 at 1:39 pm #243226Hi etoel,
Could you point out where that banner position would be according to JA’s own module list?
http://www.joomlart.com/images/stories/ja_edenite/userguide.jpg
Thanks,
Tony
March 26, 2008 at 1:46 pm #243227It’s not there – probably because they only list the ones they have on the front page.
That’s not the same as saying it doesn’t exist though^^ I’m not sure why they didn’t include it in the userguide – maybe they agreed with you that it wasn’t so important for the intended use.
Click yourself over to their demosite and you’ll find a nice example with banner: http://template15.joomlart.com/ja_edenite/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=5&Itemid=50
We use banners and I can confirm that it does indeed display the banner correctly if published.
btw – the slideshow is intended for the module position topsl – that one is called slide (sile show) in the user guide, but not marked on the page (the “S” is missing)
Cheers

March 26, 2008 at 2:07 pm #243229Hey …. I got a shout out on JoomlaViews. 😀
As you can see, I also provided my own review of the template (as a user review) – tried to be as fair as possible (remember, it’s all subjective). I’m still in the initial stages of working with both the Edenite template and Joomla 1.5. My next step is to try and successfully integrate VirtueMart
Hey Tony, did you write up a review for Joomla 1.5 itself?

March 26, 2008 at 2:19 pm #243230etoel, I noticed the misspell as well, and I stand corrected again. However, I still stand by that this is not truly a template to be using banners on and JA did not get nagged about it either.
Tom, no there has not been a review on 1.5 itself, infact I just noticed that there has been a 1.5.2 release which appears to be a minor maintenance update but should be reported as well. Your review was approved in case you did not see that yet; http://www.joomlaviews.com/joomla-articles/template-reviews/joomlart-edenite-review-2008032579/2.html. Thanks for participating!
I am always welcoming guest writers, if you want to take a stab at it; I would love to see the end result of your Edenite project.
When we first launched Joomla Views, it was just going to be open to our own articles and reviews but we decided to open up the reviews to user reviews as well to bring a more fair and subjective feel to the site; same thing, anyone interested in writing a guest article, please contact me.
Best regards,

JoomlaViews.comMarch 26, 2008 at 2:24 pm #243232I fully agree Tony – no objections here 🙂
Sidenote: Having a banner postion isn’t the same as using banners – you could publish anything there… 😎

I think it’s a great idea – and will be very helpful for people to get some outside persective/opinions on various templates, extensions and other joomla stuff – so long as people keep their comments/criticisms constructive and not offensive or disrespectful.I realize you list JoomlArt as one of your “partners,” but I do think you should open the field in reviewing other template club offerings as well. You’re not necessarily endorsing one over the other – simply providing reviews/comments/feedback. Diversity is a good thing.
Perhaps, as an idea for future “expansion,” you can add a “case study” section where you and/or you “staff” review a particular customized website that started out as one of the base templates.
