August 17, 2009 at 1:01 pm #314507munders;140974There’s no point in speculating guys. Joomlart have promised to deliver 1 template per month now and I guess that means they can even release it on 31 August.
They can even change the name of it from ‘Teline III’ to ‘Moose then to ‘Muppet’ if they want over the next week to keep us guessing.
That was funny. 😀
It is going to be Teline III, the work is on in full swing. The emphasis is not on just the template look but also on the features/ functions.
No i did not tell anyone here that i got to have a look at it and it looks great so far. :p
lets wait for it.

August 17, 2009 at 3:34 pm #314528I do not care if it is September or even October if need be, provided they get it right.
No Bugs
What they must not do was what happened last year, where the released Teline II had so many bugs. So many people had to spend countless hours filled with frustrations. It took months, almost until August-September 2008 before it was finally stable.Good manual
This is one of the most critical, and I hope better tutorials for further instructions.
Teline II is not just an upgrade of the original TelineOnce again, I beg to disagree. Teline II is a breed apart among the templates of Joomlart in the JA series

I absolutely agree with you.It needs to be right and free from as many bugs as possible. Completely bug free is impossible simply because there are so many different ways that people will use the templates, but simple bugs that can be picked up on and fixed should be fixed asap rather than people scouring the forums and spending hours fixing the same bug and making multiple threads about it.
Most people really like the design layout of the template when it is presented, so a proper manual is of course really important.
And yeah, don’t bring us some of the old – show us some of the new ;D
Just my two pennies worth.

August 17, 2009 at 3:58 pm #314534Hi hanifahmed,
On 3 August 2007, among my first posts was how the original Teline should be improved to be able to function like a “news-magazine”. I left waiting for five months and came back (I had 1 year membership) when eight months later came up with Teline II. It addressed some of the basic features that I outlined, but not all.
More than two years later, I hope they have addressed most of the features I reqeusted then.:)

Cornelio,
I’ve read most of your posts about the Teline templates and what you’d like to see and I think you have some great ideas.
However what you are looking for is not a template – you are looking for a solution to create a true Newspaper/Media type website. If JoomlArt were to build something like that, I would think they’d charge you to buy it like they did with their Job Board Component.
I would like to see someone develop something we can install into Joomla to create newspaper/media outlet type websites that have all the same features.

I understand what you are saying thatcomputerdude. That is exactly what I wanted to happen. And if they charge extra, I would not mind paying — and I am sure many Teline II users would too.
How I look though at the issue is slightly different. The template in its totality, when well integrated must highlight the key features of the script (unseen).
The disconnect that we see is because of the modular nature of Joomla itself — we separated the Template and extensions, as if they are apart from the innards of the Joomla script itself. So, we begin to think of the template as just a conglomeration of what we patched up together.
Without the Joomla script the Joomlart template (an integration of extensions plus a structural backbone) is not useful. At the same time, a Joomla script is not useful itself without the template.
The analogy is just like how Steve Jobs and the Apple engineers and designers configured the original iPhone and its subsequent iterations — not solely as a phone but a true mobile computing device, and more.
So, the question they asked is what are the attributes of such a device so that it will appeal to consumers
serve as phone
music player
internet browser
email
etc.I guess the phone technology is the obvious part that they have to add. They already have the music player, with the iPod technology.
As an internet browser, it needs two things, an operating system and a browser. And this is the tricky part. They have the precursor technologies, the much well like OSX and the existing Safari browser. The thing is, those technologies were not designed for a very tiny devise and would consume too much power. Safari as it was would have not worked as it is because of such features like the Adobe flash.
The way Scotty and many naysayers here was more like this. It cannot be done — because (give your reason here). Or as Scotty tried to argue, the existing technology only allows this to be done.
Instead of thinking that way, Jobs said “I want it done” and all his Apple engineers and designers jumped to make it as Jobs wanted.
They have to change so many things to achieve what Jobs wanted.
And they came up with the first version of the iPhone. Note that Apple had to make further revisions in its software, and technology, as well as others, and as important inventing new technologies (SDK and all that to allow the greatest surprise the Apple Apps ecosystem)
The question now would be whether Joomlart sticks to just “playing with variations of the template” as Scotty expected them to do, or will they innovate like some Joomla third party companies, e.g., Jxtended, to create new scripts and push the boundaries of the Joomla script itself.
We should know that soon whether Joomlart is just capable of working within the confines of Joomla, or be a true innovator like jxtended(???), if what instantinlaw indicated, a company that created new scripts that will be integrated by Joomla itself in the coming 1.6 version.

How about before people get their hands on a template? A relatively bug free demo would be a good start. To be blunt, JA’s quality control is below par. Will the 1 template per month change that? – doubt it – but lets wait and see.

August 19, 2009 at 6:32 pm #314760This may be a dumb question, but why create a new template posting with out any screen shots. Were left to speculate for days, when it would make more sense to open up the thread when there are screen shots to provide feedback on. Maybe this is a form of hype for the template, but it would be nice to see something soon.

Hi joev,
It has been more than a year (1y 4months and counting) since Teline II was released.
Since last year, there were quite a few threads clamoring for the improvements or upgrade of Teline II. Based from the numbers of threads, and responses, Teline II is either the most popular template ever created by Joomlart. Or, it is so many bugs, the manual and tutorials are unclear, or there were so many interests to revise the layout, there are so many posts requiring for forum support.
Both are true.
Everyone who has interest in Teline II upgraded therefore has been awaiting for this. To stem further “unrest”, they signalled that Teline III is in the works, and most likely, it will be the first release for the new order or perhaps a new beginning here in Joomlart:
One template per month
The promise is that in the new order, the templates will be better — better features, better scripts, more innovative layout, better support, manuals, tutorials, etc
We will see if Teline III will live up to the expections of the new order in Joomlart.

I think your vision is getting blurred by the stuff YOU are posting, not JoomlArt and now you are reproducing it to tell others.
It’s one thing to speculate but this is getting out of control. Instead of beating a dead horse, how about you just sit back and wait for JA to say something and not speak for them.
This is how rumors get started and there’s no reason to create a false sense of hope for the other members that read these threads.
You’ve stated what you would like, many times and lots of us think you have good ideas but they are ideas that a template club is NOT going to produce for a template. Lets just relax and wait for JA to speak up about what they are doing or show what they are going to give us.

August 19, 2009 at 8:50 pm #314777Yes, I am the only one saying those things in my previous post. All rumors. Guilty as charged. To reform myself, as I posted elsewhere I will try to avoid posting furhter BLURRY ideas to reform Joomlart, in the future.

August 20, 2009 at 7:39 am #314831There is one thing I don’t understand. Why does JA creates this subforum but never stated when JA Teline III will be available und never responds to the posts in this subforum
