September 22, 2010 at 12:44 pm #356375Are you able to install other 3rd party extensions ?
<blockquote>Did you check it in admin >> help >> system info >> php information ?</blockquote>
To eloborate on this, Please press ctrl+f while you are on specific screen and search for:
memory_limit which will let you know about session limitSeptember 22, 2010 at 1:03 pm #356379Confirm that memory_limit is 128M
but I have noticed another thing .. I don’t know if it’s important …upload_max_filesize is 2MB
In PHP.INI (vers. 5.2.11) I have modified this parameter to 128M, I stopped e start WAMPSERVER but nothing is changed.
The value is still 2mb … why??
I can’t change this valueThank you !!!

Seems like you will need to increase filesize upload value
<blockquote>The most common reason for this problem is that the File you have uploaded is too big.
The File Size Upload Limit on your Server is set too low to allow larger files to be uploaded. By
default PHP allows files up to 2 MB, but you can set to 4 MB to get rid of this error. If you have access to the php.ini, then change the directive upload_max_filesize to “4M”
and reload the server configuration. If you are running PHP in CGI mode on Apache, you can place an .htaccess file in your
Joomla! root directory and place the following code inside:php_value upload_max_filesize 4M
This will solve the problem</blockquote>

September 22, 2010 at 11:50 pm #356423there are sometimes problems at installing jomsocial. one time it’s memory, the other is timout and since 1.8 there’s also a zen problem.
you can try a different way:
don’t install with the “usual” upload&install methode. try installing from directory – this will work.
also try a different browser. I tried 8 times with firefox (my standard browser) – no chance. first time with IE – works – don’t know why, but it does ^^ hope this helps you.aman204 Friendaman204
