I am trying to have the jshopping function reach the items in a single category when you click on a button on my main menu that I thought I had linked to that category. When i click on golf on my main menu http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com it goes to this page http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=products&task=view&category_id=11&manufacturer_id=&label_id=&vendor_id=&page=&Itemid=536&lang=en

However, it is displaying all the items on the site not just the ones in the golf category. Could someone explain why. Have attached a screen shot of my settings.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Hi JIm,

I can’t tell because of the way JS shows the required settings what you picked here to get to those settings.

Menu item should be shop>show categories>insert cat id

    and it should then work.

(it will then show static page – this is normal)

    Hope that helps

    Hi Swissa,

Everytime I click the shop button it refreshes and comes up as Products? I cannot get it to stay on SHOP.

It is now showing all categories and not all products so heading in the right direction

Have you checked that category 11 exists in JoomShopping and that it is published?

Try using another category and cat number and see what happens?

Thanks it is getting there now. I just checked on ipad and changes are coming through. For some reason this particular joomart website takes about 10 – 15 minutes for changes to come through when i work on my mac but my other joomlart templates change instantly 🙁

    Cheers for the help.

    Swissa,

Thanks for the info and the help. I am trying to be a bit clever and use the jshopping as my basic database for displaying things on my site as I like the way it displays things. http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=product&task=view&category_id=11&product_id=136&Itemid=536&lang=en

Swissa, can you tell em where i would go in my files to make some changes to the html to get rid of things like the cart and the price and to change things like read more to visit website?

    Easy peasy.

    index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=config&task=adminfunction

and click use as a catalogue.

    🙂

Read more is hard coded but is easy to change. Back up the file before you play.

root/components/com_jshoppng/lang/en-GB.php Change I think line 376. ONLY CHANGE THE RIGHT HAND INSTANCE OF ‘Read more’

    Any thing else? 😉

    Thanks Swissa,

You are a genius. It is looking just how I want it now. http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=product&task=view&category_id=11&product_id=136&Itemid=536&lang=en

I have another question for you and have sent you a PM and then will put it in the forum as well.

    Jim,

I’ve replied to your PM although sometimes they don’t always work for me.

Looking good. Shows the value of really good photography and high quality pictures on a site. 🙂

    Jim,

I don’t want to jump in on your other thread as I’m also keen to see if someone could help change jasidenews.

I had a thought, and it wouldn’t look as good as using sidenews but you could display all the categories on the front page easily with pictures if you wanted.

See my home page and you’ll see what I mean. http://david-online.ch under the slideshow.

    Possibly another option for you?

    Hi Swissa,

Sorry one more question. what setting do i need to choose so that this page http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=category&task=view&category_id=3&manufacturer_id=&label_id=&vendor_id=&page=&Itemid=588&lang=en

only displays the sub categories (five star, four star, 3 star, select service hotels) and not any of the items in the catergories. At the moment it is also displaying a product which i dont want.

You’re just showing Category Hotels right? And 5*, 4* are then sub-categories? Without backend access it is hard to work out. I don’t think this is from a JShopping setting.

    Hi Swissa,

Just sent you PM with backend access.

    Cheers Jim

    BTW your site looks great.

    There you go my man!

the product was assigned to the main category HOTELS. If you change that off to a sub category it will only be shown there.

(amazing how quick it is to find the problem with access!)
