๐Ÿ™‚ what do they say “it’s easy when you know how”

I will be interesting what responses we get re the side news. However, after looking at your site and seeing that when you click on one of the side news boxes, as well as having the article come up you also have all the catergories up as well i think I might just do that instead. Might be simpler and gives me the same result.

    Hi Swissa,

sorry to bother you again. I have added a couple of properties in the five star hotel section.

I have not touched anything else and now when i click here http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=category&task=view&category_id=15&Itemid=543&lang=en

I am seeing the side news modules appearing at the bottom of the page but I HAVE TOUCHED NOTHING on the sidenews module ๐Ÿ™

    The joy of computers.

I have same dev environment as you and sometimes I have to clear lots of cache. There is a neat app for free called Cache Out X that clears it all. I find sometimes that a restart clears up some stuff too. Weird I know. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hi Swissa,

It is very strange it is now doing the same thing on my iPad. Itis only in the hotel section. In the golf section it seems ok. It is really strange it happened after I was uploading an image to a hotel and my system crashed. When I check on side news it is only checked for the home page.

If you get a chance could you look in the backend to make sure I am correct?

    Hi Jim,

I haven’t been in to your admin section and I’ve not seen this problem before with Sidenews. With Slideshow yes but not Sidenews.

I’m going to offer some ideas that sound like I’m fumbling in the dark but these are from working with it for a while and the combination may clear your problem.

    1. Set up a new menu item for the moment and call it Shop. Make sure you set it to Products and to ALL.

    2. Delete from JoomShopping the Category Hotels.

Clear all cache from JAT3, Joomla and your browser.

Make a new Category in JS, add a product or so and make a menu item for it. See if it picks up sidenews. I wouldn’t think so. I hope not! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now, finish off making the categories before doing any more formatting on modules. Get the ‘shop’ built first. Even if you don’t fill out all the detail usw get the structure there. That should help you.

Do a backup so that you have a restore point.

Now you can I hope delete out the ALL products menu item although it would do really well for you as a Site map or Offers/see all menu item!

    Thanks Swissa,

That seems to have done the trick.

With the Jshopping is it possible to display a categories list on the left hand side of the page that just has the sub categories in it from a main category?

Also is it possible to eliminate the images that go next to the sub-category names as they appear on this page http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=category&task=view&category_id=10&manufacturer_id=&label_id=&vendor_id=&page=&Itemid=587&lang=en so i just have the names in a type of list. (however, without deleting the images that go with the sub category names in other sections like hotels and spas.

Pleased to hear it. A weird little problem that one!

Not sure what you mean here – post me a url with an idea or a pic? All categories and sub categories carry IDs so you shouldn’t have any problem building menus from sub cats.

Need to go away and think about that one. I have a good idea but I think you would need to modify one of the Tiris modules. Not sure if I am up to that so I’ll have a poke around the php and come back to you.

Remember to keep doing those backups regularly just in case any gremlins reappear.

To make it easier fo me to track what I am doing can you start a new thread for each problem please Jim.

    Many Thanks

    Thanks Swissa,

I have made a new post. BTW what is the simplest method to make a back up in case the gremlins come back? Is it on my hosting site?

Install a product called Akeeba, read the documentation and to check it worked do a test restore (kickstart). (Copy the back-up file to your mac first of course). All works via the admin panel of Joomla and I know that I am not alone in saying I wouldn’t live without it! It IS a life saver!

    Hi tc_sling,

Just so that I get it right you want to change from 3 products in a row to 4 products in a row? Is that correct?

If so, you need to go to this page

    yourdomain/administrator/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=config&task=catprod

Scroll down to ‘List products’ section

You need to edit the ‘

    Amount of products in row’

    to 4

    AND

you need to put a check in ‘Change “products on page” and “products in row” for all category’

This will force a global change
