Hello ithacaindy,
K2 can be installed on all templates Joomla 1.5x.
i do not know how to install, then follow these steps:

1 .- Install Joomfish http://www.joomfish.net/ (it is important intsall before K2)
2 .- Install v2.3 http://getk2.org/ K2
3 .- Install your language

Example K2 with JaTelineiii : http://punzi.org (menu —> Blog)
