December 7, 2014 at 9:34 pm #203383Hello
I’m slightly confused. Somewhere I read in the documentation, that certain things shouldn’t be done. There are php files, less files, CSS files, ini files etc. that can be changed.
I want to do certain adjustments to JA Brisk, but I want to keep the template update able. I know that I can create my own style, that copies certain files. But it doesn’t copy the different block files. If I do for example something as described here:
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/logo-above-main-navigation/ this will break the update possibility, correct?I read somewhere that one shouldn’t make changes in CSS files, correct?
I should rather do changes in less files? Will that keep my template update able?
When do I need to use the custom.css? How about the .ini files?
It seems to me that as long I do just adjustments in the template manager, this should keep the template update able. But adjustment to certain files I’m not sure.
Thanks
Roger

December 8, 2014 at 3:09 am #557792Hi Roger,
1. The update will override all files which exist by default of the template (including css, less, php, ini, xml, etc.)
2. For the new T3 framework, which is used in this Brisk template, you can use the local folder to stored your customization. This folder will not be overridden when update.
For more information about this, you can read HEREBest regards,

December 8, 2014 at 9:57 pm #557907Thanks for the great answer. Exactly what I was looking for.
Together with this I have another question. I would like to do the development of the template on my DEV server. Then I would just like to transfer the template to my productive site.
Is it possible just to zip the template folder and install it on the production site? Thanks
Roger
