I download and install 1.5 stable quickstart, and tried to switch site language to Chinese. I have already add the chinese language files.

However, I found that switching language in the template 1.5 quickstart DOES NOT WORK for all other components like CB or RSgallery!

Joomla core language is changed and ok, but all components like RSgallery is still displayed as English no matter what site language I changed to.

If your site’s frontend is set to Chinese and you have UPDATED (from the rsgallery2.net site) chinese language files for RSGallery2 it should work fine. Some of the english text you see in the JA Avian demo you need to change manually because they’re not changed by language files. Just open an editor and change the text.

the problem is NOT just for RSgallery, but all other newly installed components. I installed CB and Fireboard with Chinese language, but still displayed as English.

Anyone successfully change the language for the quickstart verion of Joomla?

Have you change language of RSGallery2 its self?
The language of RSGallery is different with Joomla language.

    My Solution:

First Download newest Gallery Component: http://rsgallery2.net/
Extract only your language file and replace in:
    /administrator/components/com_rsgallery2/language
–> Some (Comment-) Strings are missing

Unbelievable, but true: My language File is case sensitive, what i mean is: Rename to “German.php”
Must be the same in configuration.php

    Next goto
    /components/com_rsgallery2/templates/ja_semantic/html/gallery.php

There you will find hardcoded language strings: Latest, Popular, …

Same for Modules Quickjump, Categories and QuickStats on Frontpage

Good Luck (Frank) and greetings from Germany

There is no language file name in configuration.php, and mine is still not working.

I tested a fresh copy of Joomla 1.5 stable with chinese langauge pack, and install CB 1.1 with chinese language to see if this issue is related to Joomla 1.5 stable or the Joomlart side. the same problem happened which means that this may be the Joomla 1.5 core issue.
