I did the quickstart. Everything looks fine. I added a new article with a new picture. The picture shows in the article but the thumbnail does not appear in Latest News and it doesn’t seem to have been generated. I have not had a problem with the Slideshow – the thumbnails there work fine. The thumbnails that came with the quickstart all display.

I did the changemod to 777 for my resized folder and the ones inside it. I’ve tried putting the picture in the stories folder and the stories/demo folder. Neither makes the new thumbnail appear. I even checked to see if the GD library was enabled – it is.

What am I doing wrong! It’s driving me crazy!

Also, my image resizing is not working for the articles on my front page section. They appear at whatever size they originally were imported at.

I’ve checked my resized folder and resized images are not being created at all. Do I have to do anything special to make them resize?

ok now it appears that it is making the thumbnails in the resized folder but they aren’t appearing on the frontpage latest news.

I got an email back. They said:

<blockquote>In resized/images/stories folder, images and stories folder didn’t have permission to create files in folders.
I had changed pemisstion folders, but your account admin was fail, I couldn’t login to administrator to check.</blockquote>

(ignore the part about the wrong admin account – I sent the wrong login details by mistake!)

The odd thing is that when I checked it this morning it was working (my thumbnail showed up). I checked it just now and it was gone again so I’m not sure if it’s fixed or not!

ok this is weird. When I type http://www.cakespace.com, my thumbnails show up. When I just type cakespace.com, they don’t. I think I saw this somewhere else on here but if anyone knows how to make it redirect itself to the www. thumbnail version, let me know!

I am having a similar problem.

My pictures on my slideshow are working perfectly but the thumbnails are not updating.
take a look at maim.cc/forum1

I have tried to change the permissions of my resized folder but keep getting the error. “Unable to change permission, file has different UID (101)”

This is a problem as i cant delete the thumbnails nor can i replace them with ones i have manually resized.

I have switched to a different template (Trona) but I’m having a similar problem with my articles there. Back when I was using this template, I did email the Email Support and they fixed it except for one article that just wouldn’t show. He said it had to do with permissions that weren’t allowing the folder to create an image. Of course I don’t know exactly what he did to fix it! And I don’t know why that one article refused to resize LOL.

I would email the Email Support and explain the problem, especially because your problem sounds different Starlet. I was able to go in and change my folder permissions in the Media Manager in Joomla or via FTP.

Oi, my issue was straight forward with the Navigational Type was set to “None”.

Ok, I feel stupid. Now it works great!

It not the news thats the problem, look at the thumbnails on slideshow, they dont match the slide pictures.

Ok so i worked out my problem, the resized folder had the wrong ownership so i was unable to delete or edit anything in it. Just contacted my webhost and asked them to CHOWN the folder to the same as my other directories. Problem solved and now i have full control over the resized folder again.
