Hello, The look is fantastic….but need some clarification….

    1. Is this what the starting web page Lens template should look like? or should it have some active modules or plugins like in the demo?

Do I have to initially make each picture/article seperately like on the Grid live demo version?….

I saw the users guide… and gonna follow that as much as possible…..but I thought it would be partially set-up…just was not clear…

2.. When I enable the Main Menu items the template came with or a new test Menu item it does not show… I have made sure things areenabled, Cache is refreshed, hopefully you can see the screen shot….. the top menu is blank…
I uploaded the template zipfiles one at a time going down the list….

    Thanks for your help…. πŸ™‚

Download the quickstart package. Top one in the menΓΌ – it contains all the test data etc and will help you set up very quick!

Thanks for the help Swissa…. but with this host loading the quickstart just jacks-up the whole site.. so I loaded Joomla 2.5 first then added the files separately, that allowed me at least to get to the site and the admin… my question now..
    1. which files do i need and where do i put them… I can upload via Filezilla…. just wondering….what files i’m missing….and if once i add them via Filezilla will they be active…(paused and double-checked) I went ahead and added the images demo file… that helped…
gonna search to see what else i’m missing…. Thanks…

    Hi marioss456

If you are using filezilla, well first sorry that you are in windows πŸ˜‰ , but seriously take the quickstart and expand it on your desktop then take the whole lot and upload to your site. It might take a while but then you have the whole set of files and the database on your host.

then just do the joomla install from mysite.xxx (no porn!) as normal – set up a database first of course – and you will have it all there. To do after a normal joomla install etc is just a pain in the bum I think. Try if you can to do it with the quickstart. It really will help you so much!

Who by the way is your hosting company because with 250’000 plus members here the chances are that at least a few have the same hosting and may be able to offer some tips for you.

It’s Netfirms… But I’ve tried the quickstart approach several times and somehow it get’s hung up… the hosting is Netfirms… and they
use simple scripts… I just added K2 it was missing in the files… the hosting co…just say to use their Joomla install method which works
except for quickstart…lol You’re a MAC fan… so am I…. I will switch when I can…lol I have succesfully transferred the quickstart file via file zilla unzipped but getting the Joomla started after is the pain… even made the database and everything,,,,
the process “cannot connect with database”…. Dang…. So I’ve been trying to piece it together…lol …. Funnnnnn???… lol

Thanks so much for your help….

welcome. we all start at the beginning! πŸ™‚

Check the database name, user and passwords. Sometimes just click twice and it works! But normally this is down to the db etc or hit refresh F5.

If you got this far with the quickstart I would try to persevere. Netfirms have 24 hr support – http://www.netfirms.com/support/contact.bml and you are a customer. Call them via support console. EDIT: TELL THEM WHTA YOU WANT TO HAVE NOT WHAT THEY WANT TO GIVE YOU!!!

Great way to learn too! πŸ˜‰

Good luck- this forum is always here to help you!!
