How do I use the layouts you describe on the demo? I’ve set up the entire layout so it works as in the template, but it continues to display the main page layout on content pages.
January 1, 2009 at 2:07 am #284433It really has to do with module settings. so if you go to manage modules you will see if you select a module that is active on certain pages. You can activate or deactivate the modules on a per page basis by selecting it . This will change the layout.

Di you set it up using the Quickstart. That’s the easiest way to get the same looks as in the demo, and then just add your own materials and content.January 1, 2009 at 6:34 am #284445do you have a URL to see? I really struggled with this also after deleting all the “demo content” and trying to create my own page. This was foreign to me because with CSS I used to just use the page class to display the layout. I found that just going to the particular module and turning it on and postiioning it on a page fixed the issues.
January 1, 2009 at 11:53 am #284452Urrr… i mean, they manage on the demo to change the width of the main content, i know how to turn modules on and off, its just they manage to change the width, without dubling all the content,
January 1, 2009 at 8:13 pm #284465Ok, so goto
Menu > Main Menu
Select the menu item for the page you want to change the width/layout for. In the upper right corner in the Menu Item Type box you will see “Change Type” This will bring up a “Select Menu Item Type” option. Each of those choices have a different Layout option. You’ll just have to select one to see if it’s the option you want.I hope this helps.
January 1, 2009 at 8:35 pm #284466that’s just changing the type though from category layouts etc, but it doesn’t alter the width of the article etc like the demo does.

Hi there,
I been following this thread, and I am not sure what it is that you are talking about, what width or which articles you are talking about. Maybe if you could be a bit more specific, it would help you get the answers you are looking for.January 2, 2009 at 2:52 pm #284519http://template15.joomlart.com/ja_zinc/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=22&Itemid=56
everything on the ‘layout’ menu.

January 2, 2009 at 4:01 pm #284523The reason the width changes is because the module positions left or right are sometimes used and sometimes not. When they are not the main article fills out the space they occupied and therefore is wider.
So to get the effect of full width article, you have to set the different modules are not shown on that menu item. You have to remove all modules from either left or right or both for that “page”.
Go to Extensions/Module Manager and then on Menu Assignment make sure to de-select the menu items where you don’t want to module to show up.
I hope this is a bit of a help.
January 2, 2009 at 4:04 pm #284525I have already done that, but the main article does not fill out the space.

January 2, 2009 at 4:10 pm #284528Hi jonwillchambers,
It sounds like there still must be some module somewhere keeping it from filling out the space. Have you tried it in different bowsers? is it the same then?
January 3, 2009 at 12:55 pm #284595Thanks very much… found the lurking module.

Hi jonwillchambers,I’m really glad you found it. It can be so frustrating when something like that happens. You just can’t seem to find it, and then suddenly you do and it works. It has happened to me a number of times too. Glad I could help.
