Hello,
I would like to have custom html content in the User 9 module position. I created it and it works, but now I would like to have a link inside of it to cause the linked content to view on a page without the header image and User8, User9, Top positions displayed. I made a custom menu to appear in the User 9 content using {loadposition XXX} command with out luck. My goal is to have the main page be the header, user8, user9, top intro copy. The other pages to not have those positions active.
Can you have a module within a module?

Version: Joomla 1.5.9
ArtioJoomsef 3.2.9 is installed and running

February 27, 2009 at 6:47 am #293689Dear huntercreation !
there is simple way to do it , please kindly use “index2.php” instead of “index.php” for url in custom module. Please try again.
February 27, 2009 at 6:57 am #293694I redid the link using the index2.php as you suggestes so now it links to a not templated version of the page in a new window. Is there styling or applying the template to index2 I am not sure what to do here. I could provide screen caps to illustrate how I would like it to look if that will help.
Check it out at: http://www.sancristobalranchacademy.com/scaj/
Thanks for the help it is appreciated.

February 27, 2009 at 7:09 am #293697so you want most of the modules to only appear in the main page?
just go to each individual module and change the settings in “Menu Assignment”
February 27, 2009 at 7:46 am #293712I have done that they are set to be on the “home” page only.
When I make the custom modules with a link to an article I want the article to appear without those modules. When I use the top menu all of the content appears the way I would like it to after the home page. Thanks for your help,

February 27, 2009 at 7:56 am #293715Hi patrick,
for the link in the custom module, there will be several steps to make it the way you want.
firstly, you will need an itemid for the link, since that is the case, you need to do the following.
create a new menu, maybe call it hidden_menu. make sure the menu is published and assigned to a position which CANNOT be seen.
after which, you add an item to the menu and point it to the same thing you want the link in your module to point to.
move the hidden_menu to a position that can be seen, go to your website, and click the specific menu item. copy the url in notepad or somewhere.
move the hidden_menu back to the position that cannot be seen.
using the url you have just copied, link the module link to this url.
that should work. make sure that the modules you don’t want to be seen is not assigned in the module settings to this hidden_menu
February 27, 2009 at 8:21 am #293721Cool work around. It worked for the middle or User 9 postion the other two postions (user8 and Top) link the article to the main page not to there own like the User9. So now I have to figure out what is different because they look the same. Any thoughts.
Thanks for your time on this.

February 27, 2009 at 8:23 am #293722im sorry but i don’t quite get what you are asking
February 27, 2009 at 9:19 am #293752Sorry for the confusion. If you go to the site and click on the Middle module Parental Resources and click on the more information link a page appears that does not have the header nor User8 or user9 or the top module psotions loading. This is good.
Now if you click on the Information for parents link the article appears below with header, user 8, 9 and top.
Is this any clearer for you? It is difficult to say easier to show.
Again thanks for your time.

February 27, 2009 at 9:22 am #293754did you repeat the steps for both modules? you should have 2 items under the “hidden_menu” menu each pointing the the individual article.

February 27, 2009 at 9:31 am #293764yes, SEF might screw things up due to the itemid not being present. im not sure why and how it does for one and not the other tho. SEF components and how it work is very complicated and beyond my scope of knowledge
