    hi
i find it difficult to understand how to use the profiles / layouts / themes in t3 for j1.7

i try to give a different css and layout to different pages

first i tried to copy the template in a different name and to upload to templates directory
but i dont see it in the templates manager – why ?

    then i tried to –
    1. profiles -> new
and created a new profile named info-services
    2.
layouts – > cloned default to “info-services-layout” new layout
    3.
went back to profiles and choose down at the Desktop Layout
    the new layout “info-services-layout”
    4.
at Page Assignments i added a page assign – page 500 to the new info-services profile

when clicking the services-info layout all the options appear in grey – why ?

    5. tried to enter the layouts tab and edit the “info-services-layout”
removed its top menu for example
the changed was not applied on page 500.
    please advice.

    and last question –
    when to use theme ?

    thanks !

in J1.7, you need to create template installer for it, and install the template like other extensions. copy paste to template folder will not work.

there’s a checkbox to tick to override the parameters. refer attachment.

have you try to clear T3 cache? try set Development Mode to Yes when developing your template.

    <blockquote>and last question –

depends on you. for example you would like to offer 3 different color scheme in your template for end users, then theme is the best solution. it’s an optional feature offers by T3, but doesn’t mean you have to use it.

sorry if i’m not really answering your question, i try my best to understand your issues 🙂

try to assign the profile to other menu items. if you still having the problem, i guess you need to request help from JA Support Member, they might need to access your website and check your config.
