I’m debating getting a membership, but I have a few questions first.
How does the license system actually work? I don’t expect details, but I don’t want my sites to rely on a 3rd party site to be up in order for the template to work.
What I don’t want is to have the templates connecting to your site each time a user browses my site to verify the license. This would add overhead and a delay, as well as rendering my site inoperable if for some reason the license checking function on your side was down. I assume this isn’t the case but I don’t see details on your site anywhere regarding this part of the system.
Next, I see that the Teline template says it is 1.5 valid, but I want to verify that it does not require Legacy Mode.
Finally, how do subdomains figure in to the license equation? Would I have to buy licenses for every subdomain on my site? Say I had 6 subdomains…news.domain.com, forum.domain.com, whatever.domain.com… That would require at least two 1 year memberships to get 6 domain licenses if those count as separate domains.
Thanks!

January 28, 2008 at 1:41 am #237356Hi bnkrazy,
Thank you for your question.
You will not have to rely on JA or JA does not have any connection to your site in order for the template to work. The subdomains will not count to the number of licensed domain. If you get a license for yourname.com, the license will also allow you to use it on a.yourdomain.com, b.yourdomain.comAnd you seems to have the answer for the J1.5 question.
Please let me know if you have any other question.
January 30, 2008 at 3:44 am #237621Thanks for the response. I do have a few more questions.
I noticed there are additional extensions required (JA-News and JA-Tab) that are required to reproduce the template in it’s entirety. Are those included in the template club membership or would I have to purchase them separately? Do you have links to more information on those extensions? I don’t see them on your site anywhere except the JA News download option for members, which I obviously don’t have access to.
Also, I will want to use the Community Builder suite and need to know if the Teline template has any conflicts with that.

</blockquote>Yes, all required extensions are included in the download area, you may want to have a look at the download area of JA Avian II

I have not tested the CB installation but as far as I know, there are quite a few people are using CB with Teline without any trouble.

Yep, CB should work fine. Take a look in the showcase area to see some other people running it.cgc0202 Friendcgc0202

I have not gone to the CB board lately, but I think they are still in the process of working to make CB compatible with Joomla 1.5. More than likely, it is with the Joomla that there might be a conflict.
What I know for sure is that the recently released Fireboard (1.0.4) Forum Intro page does not recognize a CB Logged in member — so that it presents the Fireboard (Joomla??) login form. This becomes an issue, if the entire Forum is registered member only. However, if you are able to go pass the Forum intro page (by changing permissions to Public), suddenly the CB Logged in user is recognized in the subForums.
This is a security risk and a bug for Fireboard (1.0.4) , but I did not have a chance to report it to the Fireboard Forum yet.
I did not encounter this problem with the prior stable version of the Fireboard.
In regard the recently released CB 1.1, if you use the Captcha plugin during CB registration, the captcha form did not appear in the CB Login module, so that I got an “Incorrect security code” when I tried to CB log in. According to the site moderator, there is a solution to this but I have not found it yet. So, I make sure to disable the captcha for the Login Module.
