March 14, 2009 at 4:26 pm #139128It would be nice to have a link of each Template Demo to its specific thread.

March 14, 2009 at 4:35 pm #295958Dont think that would work, as people who are not a member can see the demo’s aswell.
They click the link and get a access denied.

March 14, 2009 at 5:02 pm #295968I’m not sure if this would work, but could it be a link that would only be “published” or active or show up to registered members?

March 14, 2009 at 5:37 pm #295972Think that would be quite a lot of work for JA to do for relatively small feature.

March 14, 2009 at 10:23 pm #295999Actually, everyone can view the Demo pages — it is the only way that Joomlart or any template company can attract new customers. On the other hand, only registered members can view specific template pages. So, I fail to see all the concerns posted here, if the URL of the Demo page is included.
I was referring more to a sticky link to the respective template specific forums — for example Teline II in the Teline II Forum. It is afterall just a link. Right now, you have you have to go to a separate section, and it only is listed in chronological manner. It is a waste of time having to browse through all of them before you find the template you wanted.
It would be quite useful to just click at the top of each Forum, to view a separate Demo page — to have a sense of what people are asking or talking about in their posts. It would be much easier to compare the default Demo layout (not just the static page image) to what people find to be “non-functional” in their posts.
In fact, there is no reason why, one could not link also the download URL link, because this does not change also. Again, since the script has a capability to reject any unauthorized user, there should be no problem with including this link. Again, one advantage of this is that it would be much easier and convenient to check more regularly if there is any upgrade.
The only other thing that has to be done for this to be useful is that Joomlart updates the date also — one request that I have repeatedly asked, but remained in deaf ears. Just look at the update date of Teline II, it is still stuck in mid 2008, even if there had been so many updates of Teline II since then.
The trouble with not updating the “update date” is that one can never be sure, if there was any actual update, until you have downloaded the files and be able to check the changelog. I found out also, to my dismay, that in fact, there was indeed quite a few changes in Teline II for example, that was not even included in the changelog. Only serendipity allowed me to find this, after quite a few upgrades of old sites.
