April 19, 2011 at 7:24 am #162947I’ve created a local theme for Community Plus by copying one of the core themes, modifying the css, and renaming it in the .xml file. I then uploaded it as a .zip. It shows up in the Local Themes list.
That much appears to have gone well, but now I want to apply that local theme to a specific portion of my site using the profile override settings, and it’s not in the list of available profiles/themes.
What am I doing wrong? Your swift reply is MOST appreciated.
Thank you,

April 20, 2011 at 7:43 am #387214Now, let me try
1) you access the hosting and come to the templates/ja_community_plus/ and create a folder named “local” and set permission 755
2) you access the administrator => and the template configuration => click to the “Themes” tab then upload your package againI check everything in our server , everthing is fine

April 21, 2011 at 7:27 pm #387552Thanks for your help, tienhc. Much appreciated.
I included my admin access for the site when I opened this thread. Please log in and take a look. If you can make the Events page (part of the JomSocial component) load with the blue-orange-events profile, then I’ll be very happy to know how you did it!
As you said, I uploaded the theme through the Themes tab. I’ve double-checked the permissions on the directories and files created, and they are correct (755), but I am unable to select the local theme from the Profile Override Settings on the Global tab. It just doesn’t show up in the list.
This is essential, because I need each section of the site to have a different background (that’s it, just a minor css change), and our launch deadline is rapidly approaching. Thank you in advance for your speedy reply.
Matt

April 25, 2011 at 6:54 am #387932i saw that everything is ok, now you create a profile and select the local setting for it, please follow to the wiki http://wiki.joomlart.com/wiki/JA_T3_Framework_2/Guides#Profiles_Typology
When done, you only use the Profiles Override function to set one or some using this profile. http://wiki.joomlart.com/wiki/JA_T3_Framework_2/Guides#Profile_Override_Settings

April 28, 2011 at 10:49 pm #388888I think we’re still confused about my problem.
I want to change only the background image in the CSS of the blue-orange core template, which I have done, and created as a local theme. But when I want to assign that local theme to a particular section of the site using the Profile Override Settings, the local themes are not appearing as options to select — only core themes.
I need to either clone and edit one of the core templates (so it will be available in the Profile Override Settings), OR get my local theme that has the edits already made to appear on the Profile Override Settings drop-down, so they can be assigned to those pages.
Please help! Thank you.

April 28, 2011 at 11:44 pm #388894OK, I have first gon into the profiles tab and cloned the Blue-Orange profile and called it Blue-orange_events. Then also in the profiles tab I have gone to the Them Settings section and added your Blue_Orange_Events theme.
This now gives you the option in the Page Assignments to assign your theme. I have temporarilly applied your new theme to Sports/Skateboarding as a test and your new css isbeing picked up but it looks like you still hvae some work to do on that.
**Edit – Do not use IE9 to do the above changes as it is not working as it should. I have not checked your version or the JAT3 plugin so it may be that it needs updating. I’ll perform some tests with the latest relese and raise a bug report for IE9 if needed.

April 30, 2011 at 10:26 pm #389215My sincere and most grateful thanks to Phill for getting to the heart of my difficulty, and explaining it in very clear, concise and accurate terms that solved this problem for me. I’ve posted his Private Message reply below so that anyone else who finds themselves unable to intuit the new Template Management system, even after reading the documentation, can discover that it’s not so confusing at all, once it’s explained a little better.
Thank you Phill. You rock.
First you create your local themes. You seem to have a few but I have not checked nor tested them.
Then go to the profiles tab and clone the profile nearest to the one you wish. You seem to have quite a few now (I use FF4 and that is OK by the way). Next you scroll down to the box marked theme settings. You will always have the “Default” option in there. That is the base css. If you click on the little paper and pencil icon (you may have to tick the box to the right before this will activate) you will see a list of all the normal themes and a list of your local themes. Tick the one you wish the css to be loaded from and save the settings, then save the profile.
I think you know the last bit about applying your themes to pages.
I know it sounds complicated but once you do get your head around it thinks make sense and you have a huge amount of control.</blockquote>
