September 21, 2017 at 1:49 am #1063202Hi
KIndly check the default template style on your site and open it.
In Layout tab it must have a component section.
When a system URL is opened it will open on default page, because the Home menu is using a template style that does not have the component section. You may create two hidden menu items for a password reset and forget username so that when u click on them it will be redirected to this menu not to Homepage.
Regards

September 21, 2017 at 8:46 am #1063309Thank you for your suggestions. I have now created two menu items as you mention for the reset password and the user reminder function. If I have the menu items published … these functions work. However, I do not want to show these menu items. How can I hide them (if I unpublish them it will not work)?
Also, I have checked on my template layout tab and the component is there and it says "auto" on it.
And finally, if I try to login using random user name and pwd … I am still redirected wrong.
Please let me know if you have any other suggestions … or if you want me to send you login credentials for you to have a look at the site.

September 21, 2017 at 9:25 am #1063312Just wanted to inform that I managed to hide the menu items (using info from https://www.joomlashack.com/blog/tutorials/hide-menu-items/).
However, the rest of the problem still remains.
Hope to hear from you soon again.

September 22, 2017 at 7:21 am #1063499All is now fine except for one thing.
If you just hit the login button … you are wrongly redirected to the main home page. Instead it should of course show a message that the login user name and pwd is missing on the same page (not being forwarded).
Please let me know how to overcome this.

September 25, 2017 at 6:53 am #1063844Hi
You are using default Joomla login module on site.
Open the module options and set the redirection of login/logout as per needs.

September 25, 2017 at 7:14 am #1063854Hi
Are you getting the same with default Joomla template?
Login module is default Joomla module and should work same for this template.
if its not work with default Joomla template there is an issue in the Joomla login module not from the template.Regards

September 25, 2017 at 8:29 am #1063880So when I select the Protostar template instead and test this behavior … all works fine. When going back to the JA template … it is not working.
Feel free to change to the other template yourself and see this.
Let me know if you need more info from me

September 25, 2017 at 8:58 am #1063897I think we do not understand each other 100%
So what you do is fine, this I also get. However, you should try to login WITHOUT any user name nor pwd … and see what happens with the JA template and the Protostar template. It is not behaving alike.
The JA template will direct me to the start page – without any messages
The Protostar will not redirect me – but stay on the same page and inform me that the pwd and user name is missing. This is of course how it should be in the JA template as well.Let me know if you do not yet understand and I will give you screenshots.

September 25, 2017 at 9:04 am #1063903Hi
Actually, the default page of your site template style does not have the component section.
that is used to display menu output.
This is the reason you are not able to see the message.
Remove the Home menu item for skip component to see the message http://prntscr.com/gpdn1zRegards
