January 23, 2012 at 4:48 pm #434987To best assist you, I need you to set “Optimize CSS” to “No” within your Template Manager–General Settings
Also, have you given any thought to modifying your logo image so as to reduce the space between the logo text and the image of the tailor mannequin?
January 23, 2012 at 5:53 pm #435002Optimize CSS is set to no. I could reduce the space between the logo text and the image. Still that would not leave me with enough space to add new menu items.
I notice that the main menu is duplicated vertically in the body of the front page. Can I add the additional menu items here instead, without it being duplicated on the top menu?

Here is how you can move your logo to the left . . . . . .
Open the following css file –> /templates/ja_methys/css/template.css
at line 957, you will see the following:
<blockquote>h1.logo {
height: 70px;
width: 300px;
}
</blockquote>add a “margin-left” property to this css rule, as follows (for example):
<blockquote>h1.logo {
height: 70px;
margin-left: -50px;
width: 300px;
}
</blockquote>Of course, you can play around with the pixel value until you arrive at the result you like best.

Insofar as the “Main Menu” list is concerned, no – as this is connected to your Main Nav listing as well.However, you can utilize one of the other menus (within your Menu Manager) or, even better, create a new menu with the items you want. You can even use/duplicate some of the same items as in your Main Nav if you want (leaving out the ones you don’t want in your left vertical menu) – just duplicate the settings for the similar ones, and create the new ones as needed.
Hope That Helps.

January 23, 2012 at 9:30 pm #435054Sometimes the menu gets messed up. The fonts are just out of wack and styling changed from the default. Not even the front panel is visible. Then after a while it corrects itself. This was what was happening. I will try your suggestion regarding the menu.
thanks for the help

I just thought of something. Moving the logo to the left would be my last res-ought. Is it possible to create a new model position where the social menu now resides, and call it “seminars”. This new position would be placed next to the two social menu icons.just thinking.
Thanks

So you want to create a new position where you will put an linked image or something?Perhaps you can throw together a mock-up of what you envision your homepage to look like – as it might give myself (and anyone else who looks in) a better idea of what it is you are thinking and want to accomplish.
🙂
