January 25, 2009 at 10:57 am #137479Hello
I am having a problem with the logo text and slogan. I have tried two different templates, Quartz and Uvite. When I first click to access the parameters, it shows writeable. I change the logo text and slogan to what I want and click save. When I try to view the change, the original information is still there. I go back to the parameters and it says unwriteable.
I have changed the permissions using my FTP client about 20 times now. Each time the same result. Says writeable, but as soon as I save the logo text and slogan it goes right back to unwriteable again.
Any ideas how I can change the logo text and slogan. This problem will render the templates unusable for me if I can’t get the logo text and slogan to reflect my site.
Thanks

January 25, 2009 at 11:20 am #288107Try to install JoomlaXplorer or extplorer first and change the permissions with one of those Joomla internal ftp programs. You can download both at http://extensions.joomla.org
There are always problems with certain files that can’t be chmodded with the desktop FTP applications, with the joomla internal ones it works to a 99,9% with these files that otherwise stay secured from being changed via FTP.

ThanksIn your templates folder you will see a file called params.ini. You can change the text directly in there.

January 25, 2009 at 2:25 pm #288129I see, you do not talk about custom logos you first created in Photoshop with a new slogan you have to upload now and the ftp does not do the job, but the admin thing. I never done this way, as I always use the other way, but why not! Much luck with your site…

February 2, 2010 at 5:13 am #331266Scotty,
Can I make other alterations in params.ini? For example, right now my site – http://www.pan-america.org – says “best edifice” for its title. I want to change it to “bestedifice” but have the word best in white and the word “edifice” in green. How would I do this? Thanks.
