I have just installed this template on http://www.balloonconsultant.co.uk
Joomla 1.0
But i have lost my top menu…..
and I cannot seem to get the right modules in the right places……
Menu is most important issue – can anyone tell me what I have missed?

June 24, 2008 at 11:28 pm #255926Marc, if you want to PM me with access I can take a look for you for free 😉
My site is based on Joomla 1.5 so I don’t have experience with this template on Joomla 1.0 but I do run a lot of sites based on that platform. I am not saying I can fix it for you but might be able to point you in the right direction at least.

Marc,
Some questions:
Did you want your site to look more similar to the Demo with the contents you already have?
If you do, the site you have was radically transformed that it will take so much time to bring it back to the JA Teline II look. It does not look that you have much content already. If that is the case, it might be easier to start anew than trying to restore the existing site.
When you started the site. What did you use and how did you do it? Also, why did you decide to use Joomla 1.0x over 1.5x?
If you do not have much experience yet, I would always start with the either the Joomla 1.0x-JA Teline II QuickStart Kit or the Joomla 1.5x-JA Teline II QuickStart Kit. Unless you are willing to take the effort to learn the nuances of Joomla1.5x, and based from what happened with your site; more than likely you may have less trouble with Joomla 1.0x-JA Teline II QuickStart Kit .
I have a detailed instructions for the installation of Joomla 1.0x-JA Teline II QuickStart Kit intended for beginners. After the download, unpacking and upload, and while creating the database, username and password, it takes me about 5 minutes to do the Joomla 1.0x-JA Teline II QuickStart Kit installation — it is that straightforward. The Joomla 1.5x-JA Teline II QuickStart Kit installation has more requirements and steps, so that it takes me about 12-20 minutes, while watching TV to finish the process.
It takes longer to do the post-installations. And longer to customize the site.
Even if I have installed quite a few of both versions, I still prefer the Joomla 1.0x-JA Teline II and may wait longer before I migrate to Joomla 1.5x-JA Teline II. I am trying to learn more about Joomla 1.5x-JA Teline II through my demo pages, and when I think Joomla 1.5x is ready, it is just a matter of switching the URL to convert from one to the other.
Some other suggestions:
1. Install the Community Builder (CB) to have a more secure registration/login.
The defaul Joomla registration/login is susceptible to spamming because it does not have adequate access control features.2. The balloons industry is one of the most colorful and vibrant industries — you should take advantage of this to create a more visually attractive site.
