The first issue is re the news module – it’s awesome, but it would be a lot more useful if you could select a section or category for the header area independently from the various other sections below. See this example:
All of the categories below such as exercise, nutrition and so on are all in a section called wellness. Instead of the headline area just showing the last things in the closest category (in this case exercise) it would be nice if it would show what’s new in all categories under the wellness section. That would be a lot more relevant.
Is it possible to make such a change?
Second problem:
Not sure what can be done about this due to the way 1.5 articles are composed without a separate intro and body area. Look at this example of a blog listing page:
http://www.theajzone.com/dev/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=35&Itemid=72
I want the large image and exerpts to appear just as they are, but I don’t want the read more to appear all the way beneath the image – I want it just under the text like in the headline area of the news module. Is there a simple way to do that?
Thanks so much and keep up the good work!!!

March 24, 2008 at 10:44 am #243028For the first question there i think maybe to rename and install the module one more time, the first one you need to hack to delete the categories under the rotator, the second module is hacked to not show the rotator.
Not sure if it will work out as you wanted but its worth a try.For the read more button you can try a search in the forum, this have been talked about before if i remember correct.
March 25, 2008 at 9:35 am #243135I’d rather just use another component – it’s a shame too – if the janews module was simply modified on the next version to allow selecting content in the headline area like the other areas it would be great, but that one hitch makes it pretty gimmicky. I would really like it better than ijoomla news though if that was fixed. I’m not that good at php or I would try to do a change release like that myself.
As for the other issue, still looking, can’t find anything.
March 31, 2008 at 9:00 am #243726I’ve used news portal and several others – wanted to reitterate that if you added the ability to select the sections or categories for the headline area just like the smaller list below – this would be the most awesome, lightweight news module out there. I know you’ve probably got a lot of other things to worry about at the moment, but if you added that function to it it would be AWESOME!
Thanks for the cool module and the cool template!!!
