Yes Love it!
I would like to customize the logo size for the header a bit, where can I do this??? 🙂 sorry a little new, probably a real newbie question 😉 :p
Super awsome product I’m new here and love it. I just learned joomla 3 weeks ago but managed to launch a new site already with JoomlArt great products 😀 😀 😀

It has taken me some time, but I was once just like you – very confused by all CSS design. Through studying the template/css structures, and through a lot of trial and error, I am now a bit more comfortable with CSS design. (Not any kind of expert, mind you , but definitely more comfortable).
GOOD LUCK !!

Thanks I see it now :-[ looks pretty easy as you say. I will give it a try this weekend.
I have done both the joomla and Vitruemart install and the quick joomla JA_Larix install! I hope there is a simple solution to the broken icon image off components> virtuemart  of course has nothing to do with JA_Larix, it works great so far, but no answer on the vituremart site searching the problem. Oh well 😉
Thanks Tom, hope to get comfortable with css soon 🙂jc

Some templates I really love, but these last are kinda boring, just another “corporated website template that looks like a template”TomC ModeratorTomC

What’s your point? Do you like to customize templates that much – & do you want a template that you find less attractive so you can customize more?

Strange imo</blockquote>I don’t think you really have a clear understanding of what a “template” is.
It is a STARTING POINT from which you taylor and customize things. Otherwise, we would have a whole lot of identical lookign websites out there – and how unbelievably boring that would be.
So, to answer your question – yes, I do enjoy customizing templates, because that’s what you’re supposed to do.

I still don’t understand what this has to do with the fact that I like other joomlart templates more than this one?

Okay … Perhaps it might make things more clear if you listed some of the things you would like to see (or to have seen) in this or upcoming templates. What does LARIX not have that you cannot add?

August 22, 2007 at 1:59 am #227768Read the following posts and then wonder why someone might want to run with a template without having to fiddle with more than a logo, etc….:http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/custom-css-not-functioning-properly-any-idea-why/

http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/products-not-showing-in-slider/These are just a couple of issues with the JA Larix template and I could go on to others that you favor. The statement: “yes, I do enjoy customizing templates, because that’s what you’re supposed to do.” really doesn’t make sense. Templates are made and clubs formed so that you can get a site up and going easily and without much hassle. To expect everyone to stop or slow down a project to learn CSS again doesn’t make sense. I have taken time over the years to learn HTML and CSS in order to be able to make a site W3C Valid and that was the only reason not to make adjustments after creating it. I just wanted to be considered a good web master but this just isn’t the status quo for most. Most don’t care that someone that sells books is using a template just like yours when you sell dog food. With Joomla you are dealing with folks worldwide and the chances of seeing the same template on two sites is pretty remote. So give jorisva the benefit of the doubt and except the fact that he/she doesn’t like some of the recent templates. Reading the discussion here was idiotic and almost as idiotic was my responding to it.

Are you saying that you should not be taking the time to learn how your site functions? … how to customize/change things? … how to add various elements (modules, components, plugins, etc)? I’m sorry, but that’s just plain lazy. If you’re taking the time to work with Joomla and use templates, then you should have the drive to want to learn how it works – and that includes manipulating the CSS and basic php/module functions.

It’s very easy to complain … it’s another thing to back up the complaints with suggestions for how something could be improved. So far, I haven’t seen anything more than empty complaining . How about some suggestions for what you would like (or have liked) to have seen in this or any future templates.

You were talking about CSS and customizing the template and not about the use of modules and extensions that come with the template or might be available. I use whatever is useful in my presentation and there is nothing lazy about creating a website. In your discusion here you never mentioned those aspects until now. Also when I referred to why I learned CSS and HTML it was in reference to starting a website from scratch without Joomla. By learning those basic skills I was able to have my sites validate to W3C standards and that carries over into the Joomla. Does your site validate?

My suggestion here was to just lay off on trying to force someone to like a few templates that they had already said that they didn’t like. I never complained once and I was just trying to get you to understand how sometimes a JA template is not always what you expect in getting started with a website. That was why I inserted the links. No comlaints just an opinon. 🙂
