February 24, 2014 at 8:47 pm #195168Documentation is very clear about duplicating Magazine layout so thanks a lot about it guys!
Documentation shows I need to use magazine-sub in Category Layout (Magazine Category tab) to show Category articles below Featured articles.
If you have subcategories, of course, they show up, but if you don’t have subcategories, page is empty (only Intro featured and other featured articles shown). In my case I don’t have sub categories so I’m unable to show articles from current category, assigned to xLayout – Magazine menu item. I guess I need to use magazine-list in Category Layout (I see magazine_list.php file in templates/purity_iii/html/com_content/category and even modified it to make images linkable), but magazine-list layout/class is not available to choose in Category Layout.
My question is:
How can I use magazine-list option (make it avaible to choose in Category Layout on Magazine Category tab)or show list of articles in current category assigned to xLayout – Magazine menu item?

February 25, 2014 at 8:55 am #524249Hi obilat,
With magazine menu item, there will be 2 layouts: magazine and magazine-sub (with hyphen symbol in the file name)
The magazine layout has 2 sub layouts: magazine_list and magazine_featured (with underline symbol in the file name)
If you don’t need sub categories, meanwhile want to view in the magazine-sub layout, you can follow these steps:
– Change the type of menu item: from xLayout – Magazine to default ‘Category Blog’ layout.
– Select category you want to view, for example, I choose ‘T3 Framework and Bootstrap 3‘ category as demo site.
– Open this T3 Framework and Bootstrap 3 in Backend > Content > Categories > Options (tab) and select magazine-sub as Alternative layout: http://prntscr.com/2vo1w9Best

February 25, 2014 at 4:44 pm #524324Thanks, tried it – works, just does not look as Magazine layout :). Is there a way to apply magazine_list class to a menu item or Category layout?

March 6, 2014 at 6:51 pm #525692Hello. I lke how does Magazine Category looks:
http://joomla-templates.joomlart.com/purity_iii/index.php/layout/new-layouts/magazine/92-news-and-updatesBut I can’t create menu item with the same style.
I set:
“Menu Item Type: Category blog” with “Template Style: Purity III – Magazine” and “# Columns: 3”.
Also I set this for categiry: Alternative Layout: magazine-sub.But it looks a little bit different with big fonts and another style:

March 7, 2014 at 2:11 am #525715You need to add additional style for the article title by opening the file: /templates/purity_iii/css/custom.css and add this css rule:
.item .article-header h2{
font-size: 16px; <<< change to your desired value
}

March 8, 2014 at 9:58 pm #525906Hello, Saguaros.
But there is more difference between good looking “category link” http://wsw-energy.ru/90-energopotentsial and “category menu item link” http://wsw-energy.ru/analitika/ : title and intro image order for example.Is it possible to apply Magazine’s category style for the “category menu item link”?
Thanks.Saguaros ModeratorSaguaros

March 19, 2014 at 10:58 am #527329Hi
I check again and see that that menu item: http://wsw-energy.ru/analitika/obzori will still get style / layout from category blog of Joomla inspire of that you set magazine-sub as alternative layout in category settings.
Hence, if you want to have exact style / layout of magazine-sub, you need to customize the category blog layout of Joomla. You change in this file: templatespurity_iiihtmlcom_contentcategoryblog.php (a simple way is that you can copy code from this file: templatespurity_iiihtmlcom_contentcategorymagazine-sub.php into this blog.php file).
