Hi Tulio,
When you installed the Joomla 1.5.3, did you install the Joomla 1.5.3 software separate from the JA Teline II templates and extensions?
If you did, before you performed any translation into Spanish, did you get this Demo page:
http://world-odyssey.org/jte15x10/index.php
I have not touched my new installation yet ( for the JA 1.5.x version), so as you can see, it shows the correct Magazine menu:
* Home
* World
* Sport
* Technology
* Entertainment
* Health
* Life and Style
* Travel
* Artistas expected from the DEMO. The aforementioned URL (site) is based on English (en-GB) language. By the way, did you select Spanish as language for the installation? I am not sure if the Spanish installation would already have translated the Section names, i.e., World => Mundo, for example.
Just curious, if you used the Spanish installation, did it convert World to “Mundial” or “Mundo”? Based from the sections in the JA News section, it looks like you have the correct section names. Were the section names (in Spanish) already the default names?
If you used the QuickStart installation — assuming you created the unique FTP username and password, plus you insured installation of the demo data, as requested — then you should have gotten something similar to
http://world-odyssey.org/jte15x10/index.php
but the Magazine menu should already have the Spanish equivalent of the “sections” as indicated above.
How come your Magazine menu section have these as links
* Section Blog
* Section Table
* Category Blog
* Category TableIf these Magazine Section links, are the default (before you started modifying); something went wrong with your installation. The CSS specifications do not seem to match that of the Joomla 1.5.3 – JA Teline II, like the one I installed.
If you did not use the Quickstart kit:
ja_teline_ii_qui_v1.3_1.5.3.zip => (open) => ja_teline_ii_qui_v1.3_1.5.3
instead of trying to find what caused your problem in the aforementioned installation, just start a fresh (clean) installation, using the QuickStart Kit (about 5-10 min, if you already have the databases and FTPs needed ready).
Just another suggestion:
JA Teline II is quite new. There might still be bugs.
From my experience, unless you are really very well experience with Joomla and have good background in programming and scripting, it may be good idea to start with the ja_teline_ii_1.0kstart_v1.2.zip (for Joomla 1.0.x).
It takes less than five minutes to do the above.

May 26, 2008 at 7:43 pm #250634Hi Cornelio,
Thanks for your reply.
What happens is that I tried to install the Quickstart and couldn’t so I pay joomlart to make the installation.
I installed by myself the language spanish and it was working well. I just change the words of the menu, sections and category to spanish and bum! it came this error.I asked joomlart to please install everything again so I’ll go step by step looking what happens with the translation to spanish.
When I find where is the problem I’ll try to place in the forum this bug so it can be fixed.
Thanks again,
Tulio

</blockquote>Hi Tulio,
I encountered a similar problem, about the Sections in the Magazine menu that was why I was curious about your problem
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/renaming-sections-in-the-magazine-menu-a-bug-1/
but mine was nowhere near as radical as yours. Note, if you change anything in the name of the Magazine menu, something will happen in the Magazine menu.
Can you state precisely what happened when you change one Section? How did you go about doing it? You may want to read my post in the aforementioned link.
You need to start the change in the name of the sections and categories with from the Contents
=> Sections Manager
=> Categories Managerbefore you change any in the Magazine menu.
Also, there is a need to (correlate) select the appropriate Section or Category, as indicated in either the
=> Sections Manager
=> Categories Managerthe default is “All Categories”, whenever you open any page — and that is what caused the errors I encountered.
Can you please tell me how you ended up with these
* Section Blog
* Section Table
* Category Blog
* Category Tableas Section links in the Magazin menu?
Exactly what error messages did you get? Or, the desired Section names just did not appear in the Magazine menu?

I hope they are not charging you too much. If you are just beginning, I had similar frustrations when I started using Joomlart template last August 2007. Quite very frustrating actually.
What errors did you get when you tried the QuickStart? Do you want to share them?
I strongly encourage you to give the QuickStart several more times of trial. It took me I think 4 or five installations, but as it turned out, the error was not mine — there were incorrectly named files in the Joomla 1.0.x that I used. I did not find those errors of incorrectly named filesin the current Joomlart – JA Teline II, so that is good, for both the Joomla 1.0.x and Joomla 1.5.x
The QuickStart is the easiest to install (as I stated above, it takes me less than 5 minuted from start to finish — once the database, username are ready. Be sure to use the follow the browser-based installation and just follow the direction.
And, as I stated above, practice first with the Joomla 1.0.x – JA Teline II Quickstart. Just to play safe, download a new one.
JA Teline II v1.2 for Joomla 1.0.x.zip => Open (click to unzip)
=> JA Teline II v1a 1.0.x Folder
to do the QuickStart, the only thing you need from the aforementioned folder is the
Quickstart => ja_teline_ii_1.0kstart_v1.2.zip (click to open or unzip)
ja_teline_ii_1.0kstart_v1.2 => (this is all you need for the QuickStart; it includes the Joomla 1.0.15 and the JA Teline II; of course, you have to create your database and the username and password before you start)
forget the “Extensions” and the “Template” — all the files and directories are found in these folders are already part of the “ja_teline_ii_1.0kstart_v1.2”
Upload the entire “ja_teline_ii_1.0kstart_v1.2” to ensure that you did not miss anything.
After you have done the upload, just rename it.[One other thing I do, I usually rename the folder
“ja_teline_ii_1.0kstart_v1.2” => jte10x10
codes
jte =Joomla Teline
10x, this tells me that it is
10 => code number of the installationOne more thing, I never place it in the root directory, when I am learning a new template; thus, the URL
http://world-odyssey.org/jte10x10/
if I make a mistake and I cannot find the cause(s) of the errors, I do not waste too much time on the aforementioned installation. I start another one. In fact, I usually upload several at the same time, or while I am working on one, so that if I have unresolvable error in the previous, I am ready for the next one using a new database.
Now, I seldom make a error during the installation steps.
If you take this much patience to learn, and make sure you write down exactly what you did (including when you downloaded, uploaded and installed), in a short while you can almost install any Joomla while doing other things.
Remember that this is not the last Joomla or template that you are going to install. So, if you are serious, it is best to learn how to do it yourself. Unless of course you have a lot of money to let others do the job for you. *grins*

May 27, 2008 at 1:08 pm #250733Hi Cornelio,
Thanks for your reply.
I saw your post for the sport-sports changes and what I think there’s a bug between sections, menu and category in the Magazine Menu. Is weird that you see an asterisc in this menu, don’t know why or what does it means.
I just change section, category and menu to spanish and then it didn’t work at all.
And after that the section blog came to the position where the magazine menu was. Nothing else I did.About the installation I do everything until load by ftp the quickstart and decompreseed it in the cpanel.
But what do I do after that. I type http://www.mydomain.com/joomla and it doesn’t work. I think I need to know how to make all the process, but I tell you I really don’t know how to do it.
Also how to install the databse sql. If I have the steps to do shure I’ll learn it in a moment but I’ve been looking trhough the web a place where to find “ow to do it and didn’t find it.
I make all the steps up to ready to proceed with clen install but type everything in the browser and nothing comes.
Thanks again for your patience.

May 27, 2008 at 2:33 pm #250741Hi Tulio,
Here is a Browser-based installation from Joomla itself.
http://help.joomla.org/content/view/39/132/
This is intended for Joomla installation but it will work also for the installtion of the Quick Start that includes both the Joomla and the complete JA Teline II — that is why it is called a QuickStart, you install them at the same time.
Please read the link carefully, perhaps even several times. It is intended for Joomla 1.0.x and not for Joomla 1.5.x. There are more steps in the installation of Joomla 1.5.x and if you make any error in the added steps, it will cause problems that you might have encountered.
I would suggest the following:
1. Download a fresh Joomla – JA Teline II for the Joomla 1.0x only.
Please look at my post above, I detailed the specifics of the one that you should download
[Forget the Joomla 1.5.x version for now, and reserve this in the future when you are more experienced.]2. I suggest that you unpack (click twice) the zip file of the Joomla – JA Teline II for the Joomla 1.0x only.
Please look at my post above, I detailed how you should do this. And, how to find the correct
Quick Start package3. Upload the entire Quick Start package using FTP
For now, after the upload, do not place the files in the Quickstart your root directory, just rename it
ja_teline_ii_1.0kstart_v1.2 => test01and you can use the “test01” as your learning installation (and keep on doing it until you perfect the procedure)
4. While #3 is going, create new database, username and password.
Do you use a shared server? If you want me to help you, I am interested to see the format of your database name, username (you do not have to show me your username)
I hope you know how to authorize the user to have full access to the database.5. Make sure to re-read the procedure of the Browser-based installation until you fully understand each step.
For your learning process, can you please outline them here
For example:
A, Software download and upload
1.Download (name of actual version used, when downloaded, etc.)
2.Unpack
3. Upload (name of actual folder uploaded). Use FTP
4.Compare total files of upload and sourceB. Database and username (password)
1. Create database
2. username password
[write them down for your record.]
3. Authorize user full access to access databaseHere is a trick I do, to avoid typo errors:
I copy and paste the database database name, username and password on a file page for each installation (in fact for each installation, I have the entire procedure and observations exactly as I have done it).
When I fill up the information in the Quick Install, I copy from the file and paste the information into the blank provided in the browser designated for each information
C. Installation
Note: If you renamed the quickstart folder uploaded as follows:
ja_teline_ii_1.0kstart_v1.2 => test01You may start the Easy Browser based installation by typing
http://www.markexllc.com/test01/
if you click that, you will be transported to the first figure in the
http://help.joomla.org/content/view/39/132/
The Pre-installation Check
Note: I already used the same QuickStart, unlike the figure shown, all the pre-installation check must be green, if not, something is missing. You might have to talk to your webhost service if there is any incompatibility.
Just use the link above to guide you each step. Do it slowly.
Please write down any note you see in each step. For example
Quick Install
1. Pre-installation:
All green. Click to next step
2. License
3. etc.When you are just starting write everything down.
I guarantee you, if you understood, and followed all the steps, you will have a default page installed correctly.
If there are any errors, write them down. And post them here. Others might help you.
At the same time, if errors were committed, do not give up so easily. If you took copious notes in each step — compare them again with what was stated in:
http://help.joomla.org/content/view/39/132/
and my suggestions above. Please follow them exactly as stated, and see what you might have done incorrectly.
Above all, do not give up (and hire someone immediately). Try and try, again, until you get it correctly.
Be positive, have courage to take failure initially because that is the only way to succeed if you learn from your mistakes.
Good luck.
Cornelio
