November 16, 2011 at 1:08 pm #170755Hi there,
Since I would like to have a clean teline 4 site without unnecessary plugins/components/modules, then I install a fresh joomla and install the template manually and then install each component, module, & plugin all manually. But when I follow the template config in forum, I can not find the magazine menu in the menu list. There is only one menu which is “main menu”. I try to find in the forum but still can not find it how to create the magazine menu style.
Need help how to create/showing up the magazine menu. Thank you so much.

November 16, 2011 at 1:24 pm #424902“magazine menu” is the name of menu group. You simply do not have it, you created only main menu (go to menu manager to create any other menu group).

November 17, 2011 at 2:42 am #424995Hello Gray, I have create a menu named ‘magazine’ and insert some item inside it, but still not showing up. Is this because I create the menu after install the teline 4 template? So the steps are create the menu first and then install the template?
Thank you so much for the help.

November 17, 2011 at 3:58 am #425002So you created a new menu – which you have named “Magazine,” correct?
When you create a new menu, you are generally prompted to name the module as well – which then creates a module within your Module Manage – which you then publish and assign to a position accordingly.
Can you describe the exact steps you have taken and/or, perhaps, post a screenshot or two of how you have things configured?

November 17, 2011 at 5:49 am #425018Hello Tom,
I just get it work now. I need to specify the menu in the template manager and it works 🙂
Anyway, I have a new problem now. I have install JA news frontpage module and enabled it. I have tried to switch each profile/theme of the module options, but I can not get it to looks like the teline 4 demo site. Anyway I am using the 1.7.3 version.Thank you:)
Note: I can not find JA News Frontpage module in the 1.7 version. The file named ‘JA News Frontpage module’ is just in 1.6 version. What I get in the 1.7 version is JA News Featured module. I thought they are the same files right? Correct me if I’am wrong and let me know where I can download the correct one.

November 17, 2011 at 5:52 am #425019When you installed your template originally, did you utilize the quickstart+sample data installation process?

November 17, 2011 at 6:17 am #425026I have use the quickstart before with Joomla 1.6, and it works perfect and the looks same as demo. But I figure out that there are a lot of modules/component/plugin which seems not correlated with the teline 4 and I do not comfortable with them. Since I am afraid to delete them will causing problem, and also I would like to move to joomla 1.7, then I choose to make a clean install of joomla and install the template and modules manually. This will also help me to get more understand how it works. I hope JoomlArt would like to ‘clean up’ the quickstart from unnessesary modules/plugin/component in next template release. I just don’t comfortable with them. I prefer to install if I need, otherwise I prefer to uninstall it rather then just disable it.

Well, THIS[/url] explains my feelings on those issues.

November 17, 2011 at 6:44 am #425031Wow..that’s great article 🙂
Actually, I have not much problem with quickstart. It helps alot to make an instant joomla site just like the demo. The problem is I found there are some plugins/modules/components which are not related to the template, and seems they are related to other template. Some modules even have ‘position’ which not exist in the template. So I think I will setup a new dummy site using the quickstart, so I can figure out what is the missing link between my configs and the quickstart’s configs. :-[bennychen Friendbennychen

Again, I am not certain why this “kick start” is needed … and it seems like a somewhat rare occurrence. Nevertheless, if you see this happen, then try the method above and see if that works.
